Trailer Brakes

Have a 96 Fleetwood Mallard. Did the brakes shoes on the axles. Since then the return springs has broken twice. The spring were replace the shoes were installed. Any ideas why this is happen. The axles are dexter 10 inch.

Are they ONE Return Spring type




OR are they the TWO Return Spring type



IF TWO Return Spring type....which one is breaking?




Did you put the Left Hand on Roadside and Right Hand on Curbside with the Primary Shoe (smaller shoe) forward?

Sorry I was referring to the bottom spring by the adjuster but the top springs are only one spring.

You must be 'stressing' the adjuster spring when installing
That spring just applies pressure to hold shoes in adjuster



Shoes are forced out at top by actuating arm connected to magnet and the shoes pivot at the 'hold down spring'


Bottom portion of shoes only move in/out based on adjuster position
