I posted this on the motorcycle forum but not much response. I am posting here hoping I will get more responses.

I am trying to determine if the trailer that I have is too light for hauling our two motorcycles that combine weight is between 1800-2000 lbs. The trailer is a 7X14 Interstate enclosed trailer with 3,500 lbs. axels that we tow with or RV or truck.
Prior to starting this trip I made sure that all hubs were lubricated well, when we arrived at the campground I found one of the hubs had lost the hub cap and grease seal. The bearing looks like it’s toast. I am not sure if it is the weight that is causing the problem. I don’t think it’s the speed that I am towing at, with the RV or truck, I very seldom get over 65 mph. If you think the weight is too heavy for this size trailer what would you recommend?

That trailer should be more than enough. Did you make sure the bearings were good and snug or did you just grease them. It's not a bad idea to change them every once in a while either.

No I didn't check the bearings before I left, because I had them all check by a repair shop. Next time before I leave on a trip I will check them myself. I will call coach net to see if they have a mobile trailer repair shop that will come to the KOA to make repairs.

Call the repair shop and tell them what happened and that you expect them to check all bearings when you return. It would be unusual to replace bearings on this type of trailer. They should last just about forever with proper maintenance.
I had a 68 Bug with over 300 thousand miles, never replaced front wheel bearings, just serviced regularly. Have a boat trailer for an old Chris Craft, over 55 years old, never a problem. The problem is the cheap Chinese bearings that most manufacturers use now to save money with no concern for quality or long life.
No one maintains equipment better than the owner.
