Travel Trailer bed

Serious topic here.... my RV bed is killing me. I have a travel trailer which has plywood over the under bed storage then a mattress on top. I have sciatica pain and the bed isn't comfortable. Is it the mattress or the plywood? HELP!!!

I had the same problem, luckily ours was a regular queen size. I threw out the rv mattress and got the perfect one for my back from Costco. Simple and I love sleeping in the rv now.

There are a limited few things you can try. It is possible to get it as comfortable as one in the house.

1. Try a residential mattress on the plywood.

2. Add a memory foam 2" or 4" topper.

3. Buy a better RV mattress from Camping World. Read the reviews. We did this on our 1st trailer and lucked out. I would wake up and think I was in the house it was so comfotable.

4. Buy a select comfort RV style mattress.
Yes, they make such a thing.

Maybe try the memory foam on a new mattress.

Too soft as a topper so I put them under the mattress. Much better!

Bought our first TT last June. Didn't even try to use the junk mattress that came with it. Invested in a decent memory foam. Best thing I added to our home on wheels

The mattress that came in our 2018 Coachmen was absolute trash. Wife and I both prefer a firm mattress, but this one was like sleeping on a pool table. Took my back a week to recover from three nights on the thing.

We went with a Zinus inner spring and foam bed-in-a-box, and couldn't be happier. $180 delivered from Amazon, and it's almost a comfy as the bed we have at home.

We found a memory foam bed in a box from Mattress Factory for our last rig. Gonna do that again, soon.

Our Lance trailer has a Simons residetal queen mattress on plywood. Was way too firm.
A quality 4" foam topper made all the difference...
Now more comfortable than house !!!!
Costco, I think it was about $150.00..

LOVE this idea!
The mattress that came with our TT was horrible! We went the next day and got a 2" foam topper.
Better, but not great.
We've since added a 3" foam topper and one of those egg crate thingys.
Much better!
But I will be trying this out next year when we dewinterize the TT!
Thanks for the tip!!

We picked up a queen size 9" Memory foam mattress from Walmart.

Opend up the cover and cut a few inches off the length.

This reminded me about a story. My ex FIL decided he wanted his king size mattress in his 5'er. it wouldn't fit thru the door so he folded it it half and put two ratchet straps around it to hold it. Worked it in place, let the straps go, and it stayed folded in half. Looked like a giant taco. I almost wet myself laughing.
