TT Bunkhouse Difference in Makes
Hello,
New to the forum and new to the travel trailer world. We are relocating to UT and are looking for our first TT. We want to take advantage of being so close to many National Parks. Anyway, I like the look of the Jayco Hummingbird, R-pods, and Winnie Drops. Really want a bunkhouse setup. My wife thinks going with a more traditional bunkhouse with a queen and a dinnette is the way to go.
My question is, there are so many manufacturers out there, can someone shed some light on quality of manufacturers? I do need the Bentley of TT, but also don't want to get the Daewoo either.
I'd like to stay under 5k lbs. Would like a Bunkhouse with a dry bath. I have a Tahoe and a Silverado 1500 as the tow vehicle options.

We have a 2017 Coachmen Luxury Class Aerolite 319BHSS that's nice but runs around 8650 unloaded. A tad more than your wanting to pull. They have a few other models that are lighter if you would like to check them out. We have been very happy with our choice. Good luck.

We have a 2003 Keystone Sprinter 303BHS, it's got a ton of room. Older, but well made I think, we've had no issues:

We have a Starcraft 27BHU with a front queen bedroom, rear bath with shower and two full size bunks. Bought it new nearly two years ago and so far all the issues we've had have been very minor. We've been very pleased with it. The camper is heavier than the 5k you were looking at but I tow with a Silverado 1500 (8 cylinder) with no problems.

I don't have an exact trailer for you, but I will tell you, Jayco has a 2 year bumper to bumper warranty. I don't have the info on the other trailers (last I checked Jayco was the only one with the 2 year warranty), but I will say that Jayco will even cover tire blowouts that tear off the side of your trailer with the 2 year warranty - happened to me on both sides of my trailer (1 each year). I am biased as I have a Jayco and am not saying the other manufactures are bad in any way, but I just wanted to put that out there.

Thanks for the input all. We walked the lot at Camping World today and toured several makes and models. We are considering a Jayco Jay Flight SLX Baja 174BH. Anyone have one?

Take a look at a Passort 238ML or the newer 239ML. We had one and really enjoyed it. It towed great with our '99 Yukon.

Whatever you get, be sure to check the weight capacity on your truck first. Ignore the dry weight numbers on any trailer; they are useless since you aren't towing dry. Also remember that Utah is means mountains, and you want some spare capacity in your set up since you will be spending a lot of time going up and down. Another thing to consider is qthat your kids are just going to get bigger. I don't mean all that to be a downer, but it is easy to ignore all the realities when you see a gorgeous new (big) trailer. Also remember that pretty much all dealers will out and out lie to you about what your truck can safely tow. Ignore them and do the research on weights for yourself.
We live in Utah, and it is a great place to experience the majesty of the natural world. I am sure your family will love it.

Camping World is a joke. Stay far, far away.
I would take a look at the Solaire lineup. We have been very happy with ours. What truck do you have?

I am in the same boat as the op. Looking to purchase a bunkhouse model TT at or less than 5k lbs. looking at jayco jay flight and keystone summer land. My thought was to purchase from camping world for the low price but take it to a smaller local dealer for long term service since they will do warranty work for both of those brands.

I am in the same boat as many of you. i am looking at a TT with a bunkhouse and I want to stay under 5k lbs. I live in Plano Texas. Last weekend I went to Fun Town RV in Denton and I wasn't impressed at all. The three main choices or me are Starcraft, Jayco, and KZ. I was told to stay away from Jayco. i am even considering driving to Oklahoma to a Rv dealership if I need to. I am getting very put off by watching and listening ot so many people bashing the TT world that all the TT are garbage. I was told to do my research but my research is becoming very negative.
