TT door repair

I have a 94' 22ft Prowler. The other day I opened the door and rotted wood fell out on the step. It looks like I can take the door apart and replace the wood. NOTHING is ever that simple. Any advice would be appreciated before I start dis-assembly. Thanks......

I did it on my 78 Excel TT. You'll probably find that it won't be too hard to do BUT you'll have to be creative to keep the weight down. It's NOT a solid wood door. I cut new perimeter frame pieces and filled in with thin strips spaced evenly in the bottom door panel. I actually used old 2X4s that I had laying around and just resawed them to the dimensions I wanted. You might find that in the panel centers they used cardboard spacers. Just replace them with thin wood instead. I used Gorilla glue. The skins went on well (again with a little ingenuity) and the door is tight and square. Just good careful work and keeping things square will go a long way.

I think you would first determine where water got in to rot the wood. Replacing the wood without this would end you up in the same spot in a year.

Depending on what it looks like in there, use some expanding foam like "Great Stuff" to fill it in. It takes some care to do this well. Once the foam is cured, you can cut/shave it down to shape.
