All trailers 4,500 lbs GVWR and above require inspection within the previous 90 days of registration or renewal.

Inspection has long been required but virtually no one complied and no one enforced it. It's gonna be a mess for a while.

It's really not a big deal. A lot like your car inspection. $15 and 20min later you're out the door

Its seems like just another way for the government to create revenue. I'm surprised California hasn't dreamed up this one yet.

Ron Swint is the owner. He can do your trailer inspection and his shop is close to you.

Tell him hello for me.

Mine was inspected in October and I just re-registered it. I believe as long as the inspection is valid your registration will go through. I will not have mine re-inspected until next March when the registration is due.

TxDPS - Vehicle Inspection Locator

you can use this link to find a station near you. The trailer capable stations used to be far and few between. Now they are everywhere. I had my 35' TT inspected for $7

Stay tuned, current lege action pending

KCEN News-Waco,TX: "We've already seen a big change to Texas vehicle inspections this year; now a group of lawmakers wants to see an even bigger one. [...]if two bills, H.B. 3648 and S.B. 1675, pass. They would eliminate yearly inspections for most passenger vehicles."

There were no vehicle inspection in New Mexico when we lived there, except for emissions inspection in the 2 counties in the Albuquerque area. It was a mixed bag... with some vehicles roaming around that were really unsafe...

I believe that any inspection station that has room for the truck/trailer to be parked somewhere near can do the inspection. Running/stop/turn lights and $7 will do it. Yes, LT Gov Patrick is going to lower taxes--and raise fees.
