Wall Mounted Shampoo/Soap Dispensers

Greetings everyone. Hope you can guide me once more. I'm thinking of buying some wall mounted soap dispensers for the RV bathroom. A couple for the shower and one for the sink.

Have any of you done this and what was your feedback? Did they stay attached after long journeys? Have they failed etc. Is it a bad idea to hang something like this to the RV walls/shower?

I'm thinking of buying something like this.

I have this one which is very similar to what you posted. I attached it with the adhesive that came with it, and it is still hanging on the tile shower wall after 3 years and 25,000 miles.

Are you both skinny people? By that I mean all the way up and down? I am 6'3", and have wide shoulders (among other things! ) and the shower is barely large enough for me to turn around in or lift a leg to wash a foot. For me, this just looks like it takes up precious room in there, where there is already not quite enough for me.

If I were you, I'd wait until you use the TT shower at least once before you make it smaller.

We had a similar one in an older trailer, but I found it a bother. It never came off, but it always seemed to be in the way. Does your shower come with molded in shelves. Many do. I keep my shampoo/condition/soap on the shelves when parked. When we move, I put them in small totes on the floor so they don't fall over.

Thanks everyone. I'm still leaning towards getting them but 1bigmess did hit on something I've been thinking about. My shower already looks small and adding this may be a problem. We do have the recess to put stuff in so maybe we might buy sample size bottles and fill those.

I'm definitely buying one for the sink though!

Well I spoke to the wife who always grounds me when I get carried away with my excitement and we agreed on the Photoshopped pic below that I quickly knocked up.

We wont need a hand soap dispenser at the sink as you can reach around and get it from the bottom dispenser of the shower. Saving space, weight and money

What do you think? is my idea doomed from the start?

No, that looks good. You gotta remember that I have no idea what your trailer looks like.

Still, though, it's an honest recommendation that you try using it once or twice first. You hit on of those with your funny bone and you might not think it's funny.

I second 1bigmess's recommendation to try out your trailer for a while before making any mods to it. There is just no way to look at a picture and see what works; you need personal experience. Remember that Amazon can get you the product in two days if you really want it quickly after you've been in the trailer for a while.

The problem we had with dispensers in another trailer related to handling winter storage. Remember you should remove any liquid that can freeze from the trailer before winter, assuming you live where you get deep freeze temps (we lived in Iowa where we needed to prepare for -20F). They are a pain to empty, and it isn't as easy to pop out the container as they say.

I've use the ones from Home Depot that mount with caulk at home. I wonder how good they would work in the RV considering it's always bouncing around. They can detach from the wall simply by lifting them up but I wonder if they would fall off during travel

These have a lock and key. Easily come off and into the house at the end of the season.

We had a stick-on triple dispenser; worked fine and never came off. We did remove the bottles over winter.
