We've got bugs??

I was working in the RV a couple of weeks ago and found sawdust on the floor near the entertainment center. I figured it fell off of the ladder I was using. I cleaned it up and then we camped a week later. The sawdust was back. Now I'm concerned we have bugs. I can't imagine the fake wood is very tasty but I need to find a way to make the bugs leave, preferably in body bags.

My evidence looks like this:

Any ideas what I can do?

Thank you,

Joe

Hire a professional? I'd rather pay a small amont of money to be told there aren't bugs but another problem exists that doesn't require poison in such a small space.

If bugs, then I'm sure a pro could vanquish them quickly and with the minimum of risk to users of the camper.

Are you sure it's bugs and not residue from wooden material rubbing together when traveling down the road?

Just construction debris falling out.........they do NOT cleanup after themselves at the factory.
Piece work does NOT allow for being neat.

Termites do not leave saw dust
Bugs do not leave saw dust

Messy folks doing installs leave saw dust

We vacuumed saw dust, wire pieces, stripped wire insulation etc. up for couple years and we were FT traveling every week.
Out of cabinets, out of closet, out of light covers.

I always seem to have a little sawdust-type stuff like yours to clean up around my stove/countertop area. I figured it's from the shifting of the cabinets going down the road. You might try cleaning it up, then checking before you move the trailer again. If there is nothing, check again once you reach your destination. If you see it at that point, it's not critters!

Thanks for the ideas. I will clean it up again and see if it comes back. I'm pretty sure it did last time but I can't be sure if that was before or after I moved the trailer. This is our 4th season camping in the TT and I figured all of the shoddy construction debris had already fallen out by now

I did check for an exit hole from bugs and can't find any. I found hundreds of staple holes though, I'm assuming the builder was paid by the staple on mine and tried to get rich.

Thanks,

Joe

We've got bugs??

I've seen something like that left by carpenter ants in foam insulation.

i don't think there's much solid wood in your unit, bugs don't like

manufactured wood. as suggested wait for the results.

BTW i'm in Ma. aand bug folks here would charge $140 for a look see.

I found a nest of sugar ants in mine, but a shot of mean green (Dollar General) instantly killed the whole nest, also good to spray around the tires and electric entrance etc. It kill them immediately and wipes their trail out so others cannot follow it.

Based only on the photos, the "evidence" look to be all the same size, shape and color, construction debris and sawdust would be irregular. If you can get a close-up picture, you might be able to see it better, otherwise, I'd have it checked out.

Carpenter ants would leave that kind of debris. I know, have had them in my S&B. I too, would have it checked out. You indicate your RV is a 2012. If you've owned it since new, you'd have noticed construction debris long before now.

If the sawdust is left overnight I would leave a camera or iphone and put it on timelapse to see if the debri is happening all at once or a little at a time. most cameras have video modes and can record fir long periods on sdram cards or the like.

From the pics, I vote 'no bugs'--too uniform and too spread out. Borers of any kind would leave debris near where they are working. But I don't have any suggestion to what it actually is, as it doesn't look like sawdust to me, either.
Let us know what you figure it out to be...

ID:	117948Well here is an update: I went back to the camper after about 3 weeks of it sitting parked in storage. I opened the door and found a lot more of the saw dust looking stuff on the floor. I'm thinking this is for sure bugs. I used some pesticide made for wood eating bugs and painted it around my entertainment center. I can't seem to find a bore hole from where they are entering the wood. I'm going to check again this Sunday and see if there is still evidence of the bugs. If so, I'm calling a professional. What a crazy issue, I must have found the dumbest bugs ever. Perfectly good trees in any campground and they pick my camper with all of it's fake wood to eat??
