What is a reasonable length30amp power cord for most campsites?

I have a 25' 30 amp power cord that came with my TT. Is that typically long enough to reach most campsite power pedestals? Just wondering what most folks experience has been...

25' works for us. But we have only been to a little over 50 parks in the past 4 yrs.

It should be long enough for most sites. However, if you want some insurance you can buy or make a longer power cord.

You can buy/build a 10 gauge conductor cable and take it out to 30 feet and you'll only get about a 1.5% voltage drop across the 30 feet, but if you want to go longer, which you shouldn't have to, you can go to an 8 gauge cable and take it out to 50 feet with only a 1.6% voltage drop at 30 amps.

Yes, that length shore cable will reach most all. Only a couple few times have I needed longer. I carry a 30a shore cable extension. Alternatively a regular heavy duty 20a extension cord and 15 to 30 adapter would do.

I carry a 25' 30A cable extension and have used it many times under varying conditions and it is better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

At rallies or in some state/provincial parks share pedistals or power outlets etc and based on my experience some are not all that close to where you want to park. You may want to park in or out of shade for example. Also for "buddy camping" (where you want to face your friend's unit), you may need a bit more cord.

Without question, there is additional voltage drop by using an extension cable, and is more pronounced with higher current but not significant to cause a problem based on my experience if you have 120v at the pedistal. The voltage drop is directly related to the current flow and the resistance (more current or more resistance = more voltage drop). Good connections are important. Just feel the temperature at the connectors to check if there is additional resistance there. Loose connectors are often the problem areas where power loss is experienced but any wire will have some voltage drop across it when current flows and the longer the wire the more drop will be seen.
