Whats in your tool box on the TT?
I'm piecing together my toolbox for travelling with us on our journeys and I am finding it very hard not to bring them all. So...what are your thought on essential tools to have?
Thanks,
-Al

We have been camping 1.6x/mo for a little over 6 years. We travel all over the US, not nearly as fun as your adventure. I find your tool box reflects your abilities. (ie, If you dont like to mess with electricity then you won't have a multimeter.)
I carry basic hand tools (Screw drivers, small screwdrivers, crescent wrench, slip jaw pliers (Like channel locks), multimeter, box knife,
Supplies: - Kitchen/bath caulk (you may want exterior caulk and a roll of roof patch since you are full timing)
- Butyl Seal Tape
- super glue
- spare wood screws/washers
- Spare pex joints (in case of broken water pipe, we travel where it freezes)
- pipe cutter
- duct tape
- wire nuts/tape/wire
- spare fuses
- spare bulbs
- double sided tape
- Spare bearings and seals
- silicone spray (Lube)
- command strips + command strip velcro
All of this fits easily in a shoebox.
Thinking about our mishaps that have happened while on the road has driven my toolbox and repair supply list. Those mishaps are;
-backed into a tree and punctured the roof (RV caulk, roof patch)
-shower hose not tightened enough lead to serious water leak (slip jaw plyers and indoor caulk)
-Bearing failure (even if you dont know or care about fixing your bearings you need to carry the parts with you in case you need them)
-Leaking back door (buytl tape)
-brake failure (wiring supplies, multimeter)
-bulbs burn out and screws come loose
I flipped through your blog, you guys are living the dream!!! I am curious as to what other resources you are using to gather information. Considering this type of undertaking you are clearly well equipped. I look forward to hearing about your range of travel and the technical challenges you run into full timing.
Welcome aboard!

I have 3 of these, one in the truck, one for camper, and one in the house, yes it's HF quaility , but, in a pinch, great to have ! All my quality tools stay home in the shop ! But these are great for the money, plus July 4th only coupon 25% off one item ! http://www.harborfreight.com/130-pc-...ase-68998.html
Plus Cordless Drill Driver with driver Bits and drills ( great for stabilizer jacks too, with 3/4 socket and adapter ) and a matching cordless reciprocating saw with metal and wood blades and matching charger .

Basic tool kit including screwdrivers, adjustable wrench, 3/8" drive ratchet set. Allen wrench set. Multimeter, drill/driver, bit set, drill set, channel lock pliers, long nose pliers, razor knife, you get the drift all kept in a small tool box in front compartment.

Not much. I have the tools I need to make adjustments to the WD hitch. And a leatherman. I do have some extra hose clamps and fuses. That's about it.

Duct Tape, Wire Ties and silicone. 4 way lug wrench and a good jack.
Plus the Harbor Freight tool kit already mentioned and you are good to go

The minimal. And I find I need much less all the time.

CLV3, Taking tire temps, brake drums, Refridgerator, oven, A/C, you name it. Very accurate readings.
just point and pull the trigger. It has a laser dot to show the exactly when the sensor is aimed.
Use it around the house also. Not the best quality, but for the price handy to have.
