Using the truck scales at work (port) I am at my 13,000 max GCWR without any water stored but with everything we want. I even removed my topper to keep weight off the rear axle. Trailer has capacity for a lot more, but the truck is at it's posted max. Since we don't boondock, and camp only in Florida, I'll wait till better times to upgrade the TV.
I was basically given the toyhauler by my old roommates dad for mechanical work for her and him. Feel like I stole it sometimes. He has, or had, an A class he towed it with and was upgrading to a 5vr toyhauler and dually when the salesman insulted him with an incredibly low trade in offer for the Salem. He then wanted to prove a point to the salesman and that's how I lucked into my trailer.

3 trips so far.
Bringing it home, empty, and in a hurry, I got 7.2 MPG.
2nd trip loaded with bike and all - 65 to 70 gets me 7.8
3rd trip, after coming here, I kept it under 65 and got 10 MPG!
Update;
Now 47 and upgraded to a 2006 Dodge 2500 SLT 4x4 Quadcab w/ Cummins, 3:73 and A/T.
Everyone was right, each trip more weight gets added to the camper! Before I knew it, I was at 14800 combined weight! Poor GMC 1500, it did a fine job above and beyond what it was rated for. Just kept the speed down, stayed in the flat lands of Florida, and avoided busy times on the highway. Each trip got a little more noticeale about the weight.
New-to-me Dodge is rated to 20,000 GCWR / 13,000 max trailer weight. Trailer will max out at 11,160 first, so no issues there. Trailer currently at 9400 lbs w/golfcart and loaded to camp (-400lbs with motorcycle). Still haven't filled water tanks or fuel station in toyhauler yet, but now I can!
Haven't hooked them toghther yet, but can't wait to see the difference between the old 1500 gasser and the 2500 oil burner everyone keeps talking about. Kept the Tekonesha brake controller, as without it, I never would have attempted to tow with the 1500 GMC.

Here are pics of the trailer, the new-to-me Dodge, the cart w/the DGF, and the old GMC I miss since tradeing.

Just wondering how heavy your trailer is? How well your truck performs?
