When to dewinterize your camper

Hello everyone just wanted to get some opinions. I live in Illinois and the weather will be in the upper 40s low 50s during the day and at night upper 20s low 30s do you think it's safe to drain the antifreeze out?

We are in Ohio and pretty much wait until just before our first trip.

Mother's Day is usually our safe point to un-winterize our unit.

No, it's not safe to do it yet. Your lines will freeze overnight.

The date of the last freeze here in Northern Illinois is around May 18. Personally I wouldn’t consider dewinterizing until early May. Of course you could always open it up if it warms up enough, and then winterize it a second time.

Hey Gigattime we are from Ohio also. I don't think it will be safe to de-winterize this year until 4th of July.

Im in NC. We were in the 80s a few weeks ago. I decided to leave it winterized cause we weren't using it and not working on anything plumbing related.

Glad I resisted. Its been below freezing, snowed yesterday and we aren't in the mountains.

So...Ill leave it until I we are done freezing. Whenever that is. lol

Good question.

I live in Mid Michigan and normally do so mid to late April.
Would rewinterize if needs be.

We moved from OH to NC. In OH the last snow day was April 22 regularly. Usually where we are in NC the last freeze is in February.

That sounds good about right now. We had temps in the mid 30's today with light snow.

If you have your trailer close to your house and plugged into electric and full propane it might be possible to de-winterize now. You will have to baby it on dozens of cold nights and keep the propane furnace on.

But why would you want to de-winterize with 4 weeks of night time freezing temps left?

I would not do it now. If you ever have freeze damage to repair you will understand why. Been there, no fun, no T shirts.

Campgrounds in the NE open between mid April and Early May so no reason to do it before I can go someplace. Last freeze date is mid May. I might decide to go somewhere before that so I might dewinterize before then but then I would be watching the weather so I could put some heat on if the temperature was dropping below freezing overnight.
