Well I looked today, and the numbers on my toung are not my VIN number. I guess the VIN tag must have fallen off at some point or another. Is there a way I can stamp my VIN into the toung?

I would do a title search with the title and description of your trailer first!! If it is ok, Then I would find a set of Numbers and letters needed to install the Vin on the frame, Not the tongue! Tongues can be cut off and another put in its place but if ya stamp it on the frame it is a bit harder to remove!!

I already have a Michigan title for it, and what little info on my title does match up with what I have, 1988 Mallard tr coach. I have found dates stamped into the frame and toung 3-88, plus the appliances also have 87-88 dates on them, and it's clearly a Mallard.

How do you do a title search? And where do you get the proper letters and numbers to stamp a VIN? I mentioned stamping it on the toung since I noticed a couple of the trailers that are parked around mine in the storage yard also have the VIN stamped on the toung.

If you have a Machine shop close by make up a plate based on the size of numbers and letters. Take that to the shop and see if they will stamp what you need on it. Then fasten it to the unit.

If you have a title that really seems to have the right numbers and info and everything else seems in order, I would go with what jonelsr said. If you want to do a title search you do it with the DMV. they look over the trailer to find the Vin and make sure the numbers match. Another thing to check first is look under the tongue on the frame and see if the vin is stamped there. Good luck, Dan
