To make a long story short: We won a contest and the prize is a small TT made by Pilgrim. We have the option to use the MSRP on this trailer and "trade up" as long as its a new unit.

We want a bunk model and are wondering out of the following manufacturers, which has the best track record for quality/customer service:

Pilgrim (relatively new company)
K-Z (this would be a Frontier or Jag unit)
Coachmen (Spirit of America)
Jayco (Jay Flight unit)

I know that all new trailers will have a few "surprises" (we don't expect perfection), but we are wondering about the above brands?

Having owned three Jaycos (1 pop-up and 2 5th wheels), we had very few problems with any of them. The minor items that did crop up, however, were handled promptly to our satisfaction. We did lose one of the defective Norcold cooling units in a 3 month old 5th wheel, and when the dealer said that he couldn't even get the RV into the shop for 6 weeks, Jayco found an alternate Norcold authorized repair center and had us in that afternoon with repairs completed 2 days later (had to order a cooling unit which was shipped via overnight freight). Our experience is not unusual based on the other owners' comments I've seen and heard.

I'm not qualified to comment on the others you've listed.

Do you expect a few surprises when you buy a new truck or car? Why are you willing to settle for less with an RV? Demand that it be done right the first time.
