Winnebago 2201DS Minnie actual length ???

Hi,

New to the forum and looking into buying a new minnie. In my research, I think the specs on the Winnebago site may be listed wrong.

The trailer I am interested in 2201DS is listed as having the exact same length as the 2451BHS at 26.9 feet. Is this true?

Could someone with a 2201DS Please confirm actual length from tail to tongue?

I thought the 2201 was 22 feet long and the 2451 was 24 feet maybe I am wrong.

By the way, I love the minnie. I hope it is built as well as some say.

Thanks!

JT

According to the specs it is 26' 9". Our Minnie is very well built and we love it. So far we have logged 4157 miles on it. Get one, you will really like it.

Hi JT,
Welcome and good luck with your purchase.
I have a 2301BH and it is also 26'9".
The model number is more closely related to the "box" size, but even there, it's a rounding thing.

You will be very happy with it.

Thanks for the reply. Knowing now that the 2201DS is the same length as the 2451BHS, I may go with the bunk house. Although I do prefer the outdoor kitchen. Either way, I should have one by this weekend even if I have to drive to Boise from Portland and get one

That's why I found a 2301... bunkhouse AND outside kitchen!
It's discontinued, but you can still find them around, new or slightly used.
Remember, if you are buying a 2015, your goal should be about 25%+ off the MSRP. Maybe more.

I'm pretty sure the two trailers are the same "box" and the overall lenght of 26'9" is accurate. My trailer is in storage (not at our house) or I would measure it. But, looking at the floor plan, all they do on the 2451 is eliminate the corner shower and make the bathroom smaller to make room for the bunks. If you need the bunks, it's a great design. Without the bunks, the added wardrobe/storage cabinet makes the 2201DS loaded with storage space and great for longer trips.

Don't you find it strange that the option having an outside kitchen, and especially on smaller trailrs is so rare? When we decided to downsize, the one thing we wanted was the outside kitchen and in our search, there aren't many trailers offering that option.

One of the things that makes a smaller trailer more liveable is maximizing the outdoors area under the awning i.e. cooking and eating outside when possible. Our 2201DS is certainly big enough for cooking inside and we've done a lot of it, but I much prefer to have my grill set up next to the outside stove and prepare meals. My wife will use the galley to fix the salad, or mix up pancake batter, eggs, or whatever.

Exactly!
That's another thing about the bigger Minnies... the awning is 19'!! Thats as big or bigger than most full size trailers or any 5th wheel. And the outside kitchen is under the awning. Hard to find that on most campers.
We are all about living outside with the convenience of a camper. It's still camping. When you have a La-Z-Boy and watch TV in the air conditioning, you may as well sit home in your living room (or be full-timing).
One of the reasons we love our trailer is that it is perfect for us and how we camp.

The awning issue was something I noticed when looking at trailers when we bought the Minnie. I have a pretty health respect for Jayco, but noticed that a lot of their trailers are coming with awnings that are 2-4' shorter than necessary. And, it's another reason I prefer not to have a double slide on a smaller trailer as I don't want to lose space under the awning.

This tread made me curious about my dimensions, I have a 2016 2201DS. I had to go measure, the bumper to tongue length is 29ft. 6in., the box length is 23ft. and the awning is 18 feet.

What is the "queen" bed dimensions on these Winnie towables. Can't find the info on the website anywhere. I was looking at the new 2401 floor plan.
