Winnebago 2201DS/Remington 2200DS recall

Winnebago has announced a recall of 2201DS trailers due to a problem with the axle being too close to the propane gas line:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recal...rs-012215.html

This recall also applies to the Remington 2200DS model in the Sunnybrook line.

I'm wondering if this is going to impact my trip planned for March. Looks like I'll be calling Winnebago.

Sounds serious. Did you talk to Winnebago about this? Did you crawl under the trailer and look at the problem area?

I found out about it on the internet...quite by accident. I got my letter from Winnebago on Saturday. Sounds like the fix is installing some sort of guard plate. I'll be calling this week to see when they will be able to schedule the fix....Winnebago says it should only be around 30 minutes. I'll post an update when I know more.

Update! Repair parts are available. Avalon RV in Medina, OH is ordering the part and will schedule the repair when the parts get to them.

Sounds like they are going to take care of your trailer. Good for Winnebago.

Avalon RV of Medina, OH called me today with news that the parts are in and the trailer gets worked on next Monday if weather permits. So, I'm curious to see what they are going to install to remedy the problem.

Winnebago/Sunnybrook 2200DS recall

I received the recall notice and took my TT to La Mesa RV in Tucson. They didn't have the part in stock, but the service advisor didn't feel it was that big of a deal that would prevent us from taking our TT out on a planned trip before the part came in. Apparently it involves the LP line, and the part is a bump stop that further protects the LP line from damage. It sounds like it's an issue if you are towing over very rough roads (which we aren't) La Mesa RV in Tucson is on it, and will have us bring in the TT for the recall work at no charge once the part comes in.

The service tech that did the recall work on our 2201DS said that you would have to hit one heck of a bump to make the axle hit the propane line. If you have a trip planned, just check for any propane smell when possible and especially when you set up at the campsite. If you travel with the propane shut off, you should be fine while on the road....just my opinion.
