Winnebago Minnie Questions

Greetings All,

We bought our 2014 FBS2101 in May and had 5 great trips with it this year. We tow it with a 2014 Grand Cherokee (V6).

Question: We just went to winterize it and could not find the access to the back of the water heater. It looks like it should be in the bathroom.

Does anyone know if it has a water heater bypass? If not, has anyone installed one? If so, how do you get access to the water heater.

thx in advance,

Tim in Ashburn, Va

Tim, we have a 2101DS. Access to the water heater bypass valves can be found by removing the plate below the sink in the bathroom.

We bought our Minnie Winnie in March. Longest trip so far has been 2415 miles. We are very happy with the combo.

Ken
This was the case on our 2201DS. And, watch out for two low point drain valves. They are the pull up-push down type valves.

When you look at the bypass valves for the water heater, you will have to just use some logic as they aren't labeled and Winnebago fails to provide any detailed instruction. I encourage every Winnebago towable owner to contact Winnebago Towables about this, as well as to request that they put documentation online. As much as I like our 2201DS, Winnebago is far behind many other companies on web site information about their products i.e. take a look at the info Jayco provides.

Was really impressed with the build quality of the Winnebago's at last years RV show. Are there things having owned one for a year you see as sub-standard?

I liked the 27RBDS floorplan but not the 30'+ length. With the Aerolite hybrid we have now my son gets his own bed (bunk). With a non-hybrid he would have to put down the dinette or get a floor plan with a 2nd bed.

I agree with you scbwr. To be such a nice trailer the instruction manual seems to be very generic. There is not much specific information on the trailer I bought. Even though we have different trailers we probably have the same manual.

Here are a few photos showing the heater valve arrangement.

I shot at least one with my Canon T2i but had to shoot 1 or 2 with my iPhone4 due to restricted access. Nothing like having photos. Wonder if Tim ever came back to this thread.

Thanks

Actually, it was supposed to get really cold the day after I posted this and we followed the instructions without the bypass.

Thanks for the photos.

It is a shame their documentation is so bad. We keep meaning to sort through everything and cut out the stuff that actually applies.

Tim, does this mean that you did not drain your hot water tank or bypass it? Glad you liked the photos.
