All about coffee!
Hello everyone!
My husband and I are getting ready to set out to become full time RV-ers! I need advice on best ways to make coffee. We will be in a small travel trailer and mostly we will be boondocking. I want wanting to know the best/most efficient way of making coffee in the morning.
Is it best to get a stovetop kettle (found a collapsible one on amazon) and use the propane stove everyday to warm water and use a french press?
Use an electric kettle to warm water then french press? Not sure if i want to use valuable power while boondocking.
Or just get an electric coffee maker?
I want to use the LEAST amount of power but what is better, using electricy or using propane? Not sure what would be most valuable. Any insight is appreciated!
Thanks all!

For 17 years, I used a stovetop kettle on the two-burner gas cooktop in my VW Westfalia camper. Poured over grounds in a conical paper filter holder that sits right on top of the coffee cup. Works like a charm, and the extra water makes oatmeal on cold mornings.

Over kill but we have like 3 systems. French press, Mr Coffee type and the Coleman Mr Coffee type that is set on the gas stove. No we are not coffee nuts but I want coffee when I get up and some camp areas either don't have power or don't allow early gen use. Trouble with French press is cleanup when water is scarce or dump area where as both of the other systems are EZ cleanup.

Mr. Coffee is easy and doesn't take up much room to store.

I use a Militta cone filter on the road and at home. There is a one cup size and a larger 2 cup. Make the strength and brand you like. Fresh drip in the morning is fantastic!

When We are at a RV site with power we use our electric drip coffee pot a kettle all the time for tea or anything requiring hot water. When underway we use a camp percolator on the stove. I also have a camp pot for the fire pit/Coleman stove when outside cooking which is always if weather permits.
I don't know how much coffee you use, but we go through 2 pots easy. And a lot of Sun Tea. If you like Iced Tea I recommend a 2 gal jar for making, and 2 1 gal jars for stowing in the fridge. We got ours at Wal-Mart and the 1 gal jars are rectangle so they stow 1 on the door, 1 on the shelf, both on shelf if not empty when underway.

Three words. Perc. Oh. Lator. LOL.
Seriously, if you *really* like coffee, buy espresso ground coffee and make it stove top in the cheapest stainless steel percolator you can find.

Not gonna lie. I have K-cup machine sitting on my desk.
with 4x GC2 batteries, a 1500watt sine wave inverter transfer switch blah blah blah blah blah. I can make coffee anywhere .
Downside: it takes about 3-5% of my battery capacity each cup lol....

When I am plugged into a campground's electric supply, I've a Black & Decker 5-cup drip coffee maker.
For dry camping, a percolator. I had to get the Melita percolator filters online. No stores around me carry them.

I'm using a Melita #6 filter in a large conical brewer. It rests on top of a thermos bottle and brews a quart of great coffee that lasts me about 2 hours. Easy cleanup, dump filter & grounds, wipe with a paper towel.

Chemex either with or without power. We use the propane stove when without and an induction burner when plugged in. If we have power our second cup is a latte from our espresso machine.
