Best automotive compass

My first moho had a dash mounted compass. I should have made note of its brand and model # before selling.
Anyone have recommendations?
Thx rB

I finally bought a heavy duty one made for boat use. I will look tomorrow and see if there is a brand or model# on it.

Aircraft compasses also are very high quality. Check out Search Results from Aircraft Spruce

Ditto!

Seems that none of those inexpensive floating ball/liquid ones work worth a darn. Just bought one and it is always stuck on "north" no matter what direction my RV is facing.

Found this on-line:

Amazon.com: S-53 Ritchie Navigation Explorer Compass 2 3/4-Inch Dial with Surface Mount (Black): Sports & Outdoors

Ritchie as mentioned earlier and reviews look good. Thanks Hal Miller.

Flux gate compasses perform rather well considedring you can get 'em very cheap but

Frankly I use one of several GPS based apps on my smart phone.. One such is Torque Pro. which chats with the engine computer (OBD II adapter) via bluetooth.. THus it not only tells me which direction I'm headed but Engine RPM and several other "Gauges" missing from the car dash (Motor home has RPM but it has other gauges I'd like to monitor as well) Very handy application, but it's FEE ware.

I also have a free compass application.

I have a dash mounted compass by American Technology Components (LED brake lights, dual channel 900MHz headphones and more from American Technology Components), this is a compass/outside temp system with ice warning, much like my auto. The whole unit is about 2 1/4" tall and about 4 1/2" long. If I remember correctly the model is something like FastCAL/SmartCAL or AccuTech C/T. This might help.

Use your cell phone because you're not supposed to be talking on it while driving
