I am happy that so many of you are pleased with your Boliy Generator. I have a Boliy 3600sie. Had about a year. The GOOD is that it runs well and is quiet and it is pretty light weight for 3000 watts. The BAD is that it came with the oil drain plug loose, the gas shut off valve leaks where it is attached to the tank( I removed it and wrapped some teflon tape on the threads), the rubber plug to the oil plug is poorly designed and tears easily. The item is made in China but then again so are all the other ones, including Hondas. I bought mine from www.Boliy Generators, an outfit from southern California, San Diego to be exact. They may have the best price but the Service is absolutely LOUSEY!! I would not buy from them again. I seriously doubt whether they even stand behind the warranty. I would recommend "The Boliy Guy" also out of CA or The Bottomline Trading Post out of Austin, TX. Both carry parts and seem much more reassuring and reliable. I suspect that if one is half way handy, most problems with the Boliy can be handled. Everything is accessible, depending on how much disassembling one wants to do. It is the weight of a Honda 200 but 1000 watts more which covers about anyload including AC. Good Luck

Does anyone on this thread know anything about Coleman brands or All Power brand generators? I'm going on an extended trip in my new to me TT and would like to get some back up power for boondocking etc. So far I have been looking at 1000 to 1800 watt small units but the more I see your discussions I'm thinkin bigger is better. I know the smaller ones will only power small appliances and not assist with pumps and A/C etc. Are you running into situations where you use your generator for such applications on a regular basis? I am a firm believer in "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Would like to hear an answer to the earlier question about storage too. Thanks, great forum and topic.

Please do not waste your money on a construction generator! I did that, then spent another $150 on a "quiet" muffler from B&S trying to reduce the noise level to the point we could tolerate using the generator noise long enough to re-charge batteries, cook a meal, etc. That generator (Coleman) is now used strictly for emergency power here at home.
As for storage,IMO it's best to run the generator until all gas is gone out of the fuel system. Even then, a generator should be operated, at least monthly, at 1/2 capacity or more, for at least 30 minutes.

I've had a boliy for 3 or so months now and put some good hours on it. Out hunting it ran all night for 4 nights straight as my friends 5thwheel wouldnot run off the batteries (cooked inverter)

Initialy the battery seemed weak, but ran it some and it charged up good. Also there was no hose clamp on the hose coming off the bottom of the fuel tank, after a while it started to leak all over my work bench in the garage. Easy fix though, (put one on). Has been good otherwise thankfully since I just sold my yamy 3000, which was a nicer machine, but to big to fit under my toneau cover and too heavy to not pop my o-ring loading it into my lifted truck.

FYI on hauling your Genys:
I used to haul my Yamaha in the trailer since it didn't fit under the box cover, which I didn't like doing. I am glad I didn't do that with the boliy or I would be trying to get the gas smell out of the trailer for years to come.

Update to my post above

Had been running my Boliy about once a week to keep the battery up, while doing so the other day it just died. I thought it may run out of gas which was the intent, but was not out of gas and will not even think about starting again. No green light blinking when turned over. I took the panels off and cant see any of the usual culprits (disconected wiring ect) that these things are famous for. I have emailed boliy guy, but I am in Canada so its probably going to cost me to send it to them. wish me luck.
