I recently sold my very loud Coleman Powermate generator and purchased a Boliy Pro 3600si generator. This unit, made in China, was purported on a website as being extremely quiet and weighs less than 70 lbs. I discovered it when I was searching for a Kipor generator. I purchased it thru The Boliy Guy for just $950, including shipping.

When it arrived it did not run right. I contacted the Boliy Guy via email and I also contacted customer support on the Boliy website. They both responded within a few hours and suggested some things to check. Ultimately it was the "Econo" switch that was not properly connected and did not engage the rev limiter. Once I reconnected the switch it ran fine.

I have run two tanks of fuel thru the unit under load and it works great. It is rated at 3300 watts sustained, but I have had it under a 4000 watt load and it handles the load with no problem. I am anxious to see how it handles the A/C on the trailer.

I'll post updates here as I gain experience with the unit. The way I look at it, someone had to buy the first Honda generator. Who knows, maybe this will be the "new" Honda. It is certainly more affordable.

Update - I have had this unit for a year and used it on several occasions, most recently on our holiday trip to SC when we stopped for 2 overnights at Flying J. The Boliy generator has performed flawlessly, handling any load I have thrown at it. One suggestion I have is that if you intend to use the microwave, turn the economy switch off. There is a little lag with the generator ramping up speed to handle the load when set in economy mode.

So far, so good. I am happy with the Boliy. Now we'll see how long it lasts.

Thanks for the update Rick.

It's always good to hear if first impressions of of an item are the same after it's been used for an extended period of time.

I'm very pleased with mine too. Virtually the same specs as a Honda 3000si.
Upon arrival the exhaust pipe was not centered in the case opening. I removed the case to discover a motor brace had loose bolts, tightened the bolts using Loc-Tite, and it's ran happily ever since.

I've been thinking about getting a generator for my new 5th wheel. How large of an AC unit have you powered from the generator. I've got a 15k BTU unit in my Keystone Challenger that would be my primary use.

My main reason for getting a generator is so that when loading up the unit before a trip or cleaning it after the trip we can run the AC. During the summer our old trailer got so hot you had to make sure you did whatever work was necessary very early in the morning.

Sorry about the delay. Our 5er has two heat pumps. I ran an experiment with it after purchase. It will power both 15K heat pumps without dropping below safe voltage (108VAC). I started the main pump, about 5 min later the bedroom pump. I would not recommend, nor do this on a regular basis, but it did tell me something about the Boliy.

I have a 15K AC unit on my trailer and it handles it just fine. I do start the fan running first and then set the temp so the compressor kicks in. This helps the generator compensate better, especially when running in economy mode.

I ran into this old thread, and thought I would ask how the Boliy generator is working, or if it is still working. I also see Ray has one. Can either of you or anyone else give us an update??
TIA

Ron

Mine is still performing fine. Still powers our 15.5K heat pump easily, with enough wattage to run the lights, etc. I would like to have the new electric-start model, but at this rate my pull-start model will outlast me.

Thanks Ray

I have been looking at generators for a long time, but having a hard time pulling the trigger. Going to Yellowstone soon, so I guess I'll have to pick one.

Rick,

I have a Crossroads CK29 and have seen your posts on their site. I am thinking of buying the new electric start model. 2 questions. Where do you store the genny when you are on the road? When you are operating it where do you put it and how do you secure it from prying hands?

Hey guys with the Boliy! This is my first post.. we just bought our first RV and generator... very excited!...

I bought the Boliy and have a couple of questions.

  • Does the "ECON" switch do anything noticable with no load or a 1500W load? I try and try and it runs at the same speed always. Unsure if I put on a higher load will it increase the RPM's? Or is mine stuck on high.

I read the OP said something about issues with the ECON switch....?

  • Also.. how easy is yours to start? It started after maybe 20 pulls last night (first time running it) and today to get it going I pulled 100+ times and gave up and opened the spark plug and sprayed in starter fluid.. it then did start after around 5 pulls.

I ran it an hour running a 1500W heater... worked fine (besides the unknown ECON switch condition)... and just shut it off. Going to let it sit a half hour and hopefully it starts easier. I dread a hard to start genny as I had back surgery last fall.. (I should have gotten the electric start.. as I kick myself now)

Pete!
My Boliy seems to be slow to get gas from the shutoff valve through the carb. I turn on the gas valve, wait about 5 minutes, then it takes 2-3 pulls to start if it hasn't been ran for a while. The choke knob on mine must be held out or it retracts just a bit, enough to not start.
The econ mode should cause the engine to idle down to about half throttle with nothing powered. You may need to use a mechanics mirror and flashlight to inspect the back side of the switch. Perhaps a wire came loose or switch is faulty. If it is still under warranty call the seller and request instructions for repairs.

Thanks! Yes... mine is FIXED! It turned out that it was one of the white plugs (there are many inside) that had come disconnected in shipping. Geeze... now this generator is SO quiet... and it really does start on one or two pulls. Only issue I have to deal with now is that I found out NO ONE in the state of MN services them... so I'll have to ship it for any warranty service (if needed fingers crossed). Running it right now in fact.. I am at an R/C helicopter event (one of the reasons I bought a camper)... really cool.
