I tried the tripod supplied by DirecTV and, while it works, it is difficult to level and easy to disturb once it has been set up. Not a satisfactory option.

I purchased a Bullseye from L.W. Blenis and can heartily recommend it. You just put a stake in the ground or clamp to any convenient sturdy object. Then you add the bullseye and use the built-in level and finger knobs to get it plumb and steady. Takes longer to describe it than to do it.

The bullseye is very rugged. Every part is made of 1/4" steel plate. Definitely a lifetime of use there.

And ... if you call L.W. answers the phone himself; just says "hello", you don't have to press "1" for English or anything!

After fighting with a couple of different tripod type mounts, I bought a Bulls Eye Mount about 3 years ago and no more trouble with a sat dish mount. THat sucker is stable and very versitable.
