I am pondering which system is better. I have Dish Net at home and have the oppertunity to go with Direct for a really good price. I understand Dish Net has a problen with local channels. Any thought of the pros and cons.
I do know that for $5 a month I can keep a reciever in the MOHO, no more carrying back and forth.

Read the posts on Dish Network being unable to supply Distance Network Services (DNS). There was a ruling against Dish so they can no longer provide DNS services.
DNS services allow you to receive ABC/NBC/CBS from New York/LA while you travel, and is only approved for your RV.
Home services allow you to receive only your local network channels. When you travel beyond this 'spot service' you most likely will not be able to receive these networks.
Note you are not allowed to receive DNS in your home. So if you use satellite as your primary TV service at home, this is not a legal solution for you in your home.
You can keep your normal satellite service from home and put one of your receivers in your motorhome, but not be able to receive the major networks when you travel.
I have DirecTV for the motorhome and am happy with it (including DNS services -- cable TV at home).

I've had both Dish and Direct. I like the Direct it is easier to hit the sattelite than with the Dish network.

We've had both and we had alot of trouble getting all the channels on dish while traveling. We've had no trouble with direct tv. you can look on their site and get a form to have east coast or west coast local channels.

Pusherman indicated the distance channels were only for your RV. That is not necssiarly true. If you go to the DirecTV web site you will find you may be able to get the east/west coast stations at your home if you meet certain requirements.
We have had the east/west stations for the last 9 years at our residence.

I also live where I can't receive TV through an attenna or cable and have received DNS for a number of years. I have a spare dish which I use in the RV. I take the receiver from the house and use it in the RV. I have always received my DNS anywhere I have traveled. Can someone answer a guestion for me. ON the ALL American site it says one needs a RV waiver. The waiver stated the dish is attached to you RV. Mine is not. I just carry it and set it up on a stand. Maybe I won't need a RV waiver as it is not attached to the RV.

I stand corrected. Yes, you can get DNS at your residence if you cannot receive the local affiliates 'off the air' or if cable TV is not available(?). Not the case where I live.
Not sure if the requirement is to have the dish attached permanently to the RV or if a portable sattelite dish is OK, but you still need the RV Waiver to get DNS in an RV. It's simple -- send in a copy of your registration to verify it is for RV use. They won't ask how the dish is attached to your RV.

I have Dish Network at home. When we go on the road I take the Dish receiver and put it in the MH.
I have a Motosat MD500 on the roof on the MH. It works great. Press the find button, wait a few minutes and everything is good to go. Last summer I received LA local channels in the middle of British Columbia.
