At the 2005 National Rally in Lancaster, PA I was the lucky grand prize winner of the Doran/Pressure Pro Wireless Tire Pressure Monitor with 10 sensors. The monitor was donated by RVUpgrades.com. It's taken a while, but now that I have a full year usage under my belt, I figure I would provide a write up.

I have a 2006 Ford F-350 Dually and a 37' Newmar 5th Wheel trailer with tandem axle. It took my wife small hands, but we managed to get the sensor mounted to inner rear wheels of my tow vehicle. I read the setup instructions a few times and had to make sure I had all tires at normal pressure prior to installation. Setup was a little fuzzy after simply reading the directions, but after I did the first sensor, the rest were easy. This unit will display an alarm if the tire pressure changes by 10%. The monitor has a small antenna with it, and I purchased the 35' extension. However, as it turns out, I did not need the extension as all tires are within 50' of the monitor and it reads them well. There is a button to toggle between the tow vehicle tires and addition of a toad/trailer. One must press that button when disconnecting the trailer. Likewise, when hitching up, you must remember the hit the button again so the monitor knows to start monitoring the trailer tires again The first time I unhitched I forgot the hit that button. The monitor went off indicating loss of pressure in the four trailer tires. I do take them off for the winter as I lower my tire pressure in the truck. Plus the tire pressure variance in the winter is much more extreme. Even in the summer if we have a cool evening and the tire pressure drops beyond that 10% the alarm will be sounding in the morning. I just hit the silence button. Care must be taken to mark them so you get them back onto the same tire when reinstalled. I use an egg carton with each space labeled to the proper tire. When I reinstall the sensors, I simply adjust the tire to the proper pressure, put the sensor onto the correct tire, and the monitor starts monitoring it again. If you put the sensor on an incorrect tire, it will not display properly on the monitor. This can also be done in between trips if you like to reduce tire pressure until the next trip.

I have only had 1 false alarm on a trailer tire while driving. I immediately stopped and checked the tire and pressure. It was good so I reset the alarm and continued on my way.

Aside from the ease of mind that tire failure is being monitored, I can also check each tire pressure right from the monitor unit by using the scroll button move from tire to tire. The display will show the tire pressure for that tire for that moment in time.

Granted this unit is a little pricey, but comparing the cost to repairing a damaged trailer from tire failure makes this unit a sound investment.

I agree with John. The Pressure Pro product works as advertised and I would make the purchase again. I've had mine since around September 2005. It has made one alert (a real alert). I was able to fix the problem (loose vlave stem) and be on my way with no damage. I've had some problems, all problems were taken care of to my complete satisfaction. Pressure Pro recently took care of me on a leaking sensor issue, at no charge, and I am out of warranty. A good product and great service. What else can one ask for.

I agree. Had it on my last coach. After some work to get everything set up, they worked consistantly well.

I purchased a set for the motorhome yesterday at the Ft. Myers RV show. Hsd been looking at several of the various tire pressure monitoring products. The question I have is whether I will need the repeater for the toad tire signal with a 45' rig. It will require tapping into a 12 volt source, and I would rather not have to utilize the repeater. Any of you had any experience with the Pressure Pro and a longer coach?

For my signature coach (39 ft) I did need to use the external antenna. It is no problem to run the wire and make a place for the antenna. The antenna is underneath the coach, upside down, about 3 feet in front of the rear axle. Go here for pictures:

CWG

the documentation says the signal is good to 100'. If it does not work without it, send me a PM. I have the antenna brand new in a bag.

I have the pressure pro system. Mounted on the MH and the dolly and the rear wheels of the Freestyle. I love it. Have not had any problems with it and like the one post above, it signaled me about a low rear inner tire -- valve stem was leaking. I am sure that it saved me as I probably would have not caught it until it was much lower.

While this system is expensive, I look at it as insurance. I now drive with full confidence that my tires are running OK and that I will be able to prevent serious problems before a blowout occurs.

I love my 12 sensor system....As for the repeater, I recommend it...looks better than a wire running out of the top of the receiver and its amazingly easy to connect to 12v fuse box. I swear the range on it is many 100s of feets! I have had the toad about 400 feet away and still had a signal..dont know how much farther I could go............

I had mine give me an alarm which turned out to be a loose tire stem valve. How many of you carry a tool to tighten the valve? I do now!

If you are talking about the valve core being loose, I carry both the tool to tighten it and also carry spare core replacements.

For the past 2 years I have been using the Pressure Pro system on my 5th wheel and pickup truck. It has saved me from serious tire problems 3 times. We recently sold the 5th wheel and bought a motorhome. I plan on installing the system on the motorhome SOON . One thing I plan on adding is the repeater because with a 39ft motorhome I am not so sure that the sensors on the toad will read properly. Pressure Pro is the way to go!!!

I have had two valve stems go bad on my truck. I just had trouble coming back from the Myrtle Beach rally a couple weeks ago. I had just rotated the tires from front to back. I am replacing the valve stems with the bolt on kind. i hope this will take care of the problem. I really like the Pressure Pro and would not tow without it.
