I just purchased Eternabond tape to reseal the roof seams on my 2001 Suncruiser. I was only able to purchase a 4 inch wide roll. Has any one come up with a good way to cut this stuff into narrower widths? Would appreciate your experience.

don't think you should...it's designed to overlap the old silicone sealer and adhear to the outside surfaces.

I heard you place it in a freezer & get it frozen. Then peel off three feet at a time and cut it with a razor knife into two two-inch strips.

A razor knife will cut it, even when warm. However, it should be a bit easier to cut when cold because the adhesive does not stick to the knife blade as much. I've never tried to split a long length, but while working with Eternabond you still have to cut off sections and occasionally trim or shape it to fit around a ladder, vent pipe, sklight, etc. This can be done easily enough when warm, using a nice fresh blade in the razor knife.

Application is easy enough, but you only get one chance to lay it down. The stuff really sticks! It can also be difficult to work it around complex curves, such as the rounder shoulder where a front or rear cap rolls over to meet the sides of the RV. The adhesive conforms to the curve well enough but the white (or silver) top layer does not conform well and will pucker on you.

Eternabond has many good uses. I have repaired a hole in a gray water tank with it, patched a rip in an awning, patched a guy's radiator hose in the middle of nowhere, made an emergency repair to a camping neighbors water hose, etc. It sticks to anything (except silicone) and holds very, very well! I will never travel with out a roll of it.

Thanks to every one who responded. I think I am ready to give it a try. I am sure there will be some OJT involved.

I used a 2" wide ruler and a sharpie pen to mark it, and cut it with a regular pair of scissors.

Nothing to it!!

The first time I backed out Arctic Fox into the shelter. I got too close to a brace in the roof. I call a RV dealer and told me that the roof would have to be replaced. I got 5 or six very small holes on the edge of the roof. They were wanting two thousand for the labor plus the cost of the roof. I ask how the fix on here and someone came up with Eternabond . It cost me $70 for the kit and over six months later it is doing just fine. It looks a lot better than what the Northwood Company used to seal around vents and where the front and rear cap connect. I am very pleased with Eternabond.

M&C have it. That is exactly the method I used to reseal the roof edges on my Horizon. The full 4 inches is just too much. Set the bottom edge of the 2" strip in the bottom of the rain gutter and it laps up and over the silicon joint holding the roof and sides.
Use the kind with the white plastic backing so you don't have to paint the UV treatment on.

Like Jerry stated, keep this tape handy and save yourself a lot of grief. We were on I-70 last week when a P/U truck on the other side clipped a highway construction sigh sending the sign support hurdling over the center "K" rail and stricking the right front of the MH. The grill, headlight and fiberglass cap took a direct hit. Eternabond held the fiberglass together in fine fashion, getting us home with no worries of "flapping" fiberglass.

I removed all the old caulk on the roof to sidewall seams. Cut the Eternabond into 1" strips and applied.

Can this tape be painted?
I have full body paint, and don't really think the tape will "blend".

I have never heard anyone that did not like the performance of this stuff..wish I have invented it !!

I just ordered 2 rolls of eternabond tape from Copper State Roofing Supply in Phoenix. (1-800-474-7570) It is 2" wide and 50 ft long, white and has smooth surface with U/V protection.Cost $22.95 a roll. I have read so much good stuff about the product I just have to try it for myself. Try bestmaterials.com
web site for more information. Safe Travles, Jim Bob
