Flexsteel Swivel Rocker stuck

I have a Flexsteel swivel rocker in my '98 coach which swivels, rocks and reclines just like you would expect, plus it is quite comfortable . It did develop a rattle though. In getting under it to find the source, I discovered that it had a mechanism to allow it to slide forward and back as well, like a front car seat. The slide mechanism is stuck, though, having not been operated for years (maybe never) .

I found the release lever for the slide. When operated. the lever and cable move the release lever on the mechanism easily. The slide rails are stuck together, though, and gentle tapping on the rail ends doesn't help.

Normally, at this point I would apply liberal amounts of WD but I don't want to stain the upholstery or the carpet underneath.

Have any of you RV veterans out there divined a solution to this sort of problem that you care to share . I need to know what I've been missing all these years .
