The life time update has been a bummer for me. I did pay the $119!

I was using the Verizon air card and it was telling me, as it bounced around anywheres from 16 to 24 hours for the download. They decided to send me a CD update and it took several hours and when finished I lost everything except my favorite places- and I'm not sure it's working properly at all. The "little car" always shows off the road now. Everything else is gone. No addresses, no shopping, no restaurants, etc.

I haven't had time to call them again and waste my time.

I pulled out the lowly Nuvi 200 I had in the toad and am using it in the MH now. It works great.

Update on my Garmin Street Pilot c550-

I finally found time to call Garmin (It's raining today) and I presented my problem to a fellow in software named "Damon". What a blessing that guy is .

He took control of my computer and found the problem immediately. In the two previous downloads I had made- they were fighting each other. He moved them around, separating them and the download started-- He worked with me on the phone about 30 minutes. After 6 hours, on DSL Roadrunner, the download to my GPS was completed.

It looks great now--- I'll try it out in the car this week.

A tip Damon told me to use to get to the software folks faster is to select "Marine" GPS from the phone prompts at Garmin and then ask for software tech service. At the time he finished with me on the phone, there were 121 automobile calls waiting and zero marine calls waiting to be answered!!!
