Good Sam trip planning service

I just used the new Good Sam trip planner to route a six week trip from Santa Cruz to New Orleans to Green Bay Wisconsin back to Santa Cruz. What an awesome program. I was able to plan each of our stop covers, make reservations, and plan rest stops for puppies. I am very pleased.

The best part is I can download the entire trip to my GPS. Great job, Good Sam!

Wow, that is a major improvement. In the past if you attempted to click on a campground in the trip planner it would take you to a page to buy the Trailer Life directory not to view info on the campground. It was a real mess overall. I have some very long emails that were exchanged with Good Sam staff and the company they used for trip planning in the past, FreeTrip.com. Not sure if they changed companies but this is exactly what I was telling them needed to be done.

Glad they took your suggestions to heart. They give you the option to view good Sam campgrounds or private or public or all three. So when you are routing and you know the area you want to stop you can search for a place.

We have taken two trips with the Good Sam GPS . . . and I really enjoy how not only the trip planner works but how the GPS unit performs as well. Planning the trip on my computer and then down loading it to the GPS is fantastic . . . was such a help in planning out trip to Florida and I have just put in our next trip to Montana for the summer / plus already have our reservations in. Knock on wood - but so far I love that program . . . .as well as the Good Sam GPS. I specially like how you can put in your preferred gas station and they pop up in the map . . ..

We have used the Good Sam Planner & GPS twice, just got back on a 10 day trip to Florida and the GPS was right on. The trip planner is unbelievable ...... love doing it on the computer and down loading it to the GPS . . . .The planner makes planning a trip pretty easy . . . I have just put in our next trip to Montana . . . soooooo glad I had that planner, worth it' weight in gold. It does so many things , love how your preferred gas stations pop up on the GPS . . . . . Love how you can click on a Camp Ground and the information of the camp pops up . . . amazing.

I agree, that program is worth its weight in gold. Once I thought I knew a shortcut and had the GPS on. When I turned in the road it kept warning mW that there was a weight restriction on that road. It knew my weight because I set it up with my weight, height, length, how much propane I carried. The things we can't know by merely programming our trip.

The other thing I lime is being able to map out and make reservations. Now I don't have to worry about where I'm going to stay.

When you refer to "The Good Sam GPS", which one is it? The Magellan or Rand McNally? I am using the Magellan 9165T LM that I bought from CW a couple years ago but now they are promoting the RM.

Have not used the GS Trip Planner for a while because it was so awkward. Will have to give it another look.

The GPS I'm referring to is the Rand McNally.
