Co-pilot live, I believe is for the I's as well as the droids and is a trucker app. Just remember you must have internet for these apps, the maps portion.

I use the GPS HD (from MotionX) on my generation 1 iPad and iPhone with no problems yet. The scrolling map features works well although you can get to some places where it's questionable on how long it's been since the map was updated.
Good luck!

COPILOT has several versions that will work for the iphone, itouch, and/or ipad. I use the COPILOT LIVE version. Been using it for 2 years. It provides an allowance for vehicle height and does weel to route you around low bridges, etc. That version is only $15. A specific version for trucks is available that takes into account height, width, and weight. The truck version is $150. All versions appear to be based upon the same data base. Their software does not use a cell connection to work. All maps and data are stored in the iphone/ipad. That means that even an itouch will be able to provide you with the GPS tracking needed. The data is mostly up to date. They do have a user input feature that they do use to update changes in road locations.
No GPS is perfect. I'm satisfied with the COPILOT. Oh, and since it provides verbal directions, we named him 'Wilson'.....

I have CoPilot Live on my iphone 3, and I like it better than my wife's dedicated TomTom One. One of their add ons is a feature that shows gas (or diesel) prices at all nearby stations.
I also use Gaia GPS for hiking. It doesn't give directions, but does have full featured topo maps.
A third app that you might look at is AllStays Camp & RV. It identifies camp grounds in any area. For regular campgrounds, it lists the number of sites, the type of hookups, etc. It also identifies Walmarts, rest areas, truck stops, etc. where you can stop for the night. It accesses Google maps to provide directions.

Howdy!
Don't have and iPad but do have a Smart phone and a Galaxy Tab both Android. I use Co-Polit Live USA and it has a setting on it that goes up to 13'. Don't know what you want in a trucker version. Has worked well for use the last year of fulltime travel. Co-Polit does have a trucker version but it's expensive. Either one works on iPad are Android.
