I an effort to try and extend the limits of the gray water holding tank. Has anyone used this product?

I am not sure how that one works but I use this and I think it will do want you want. Just twist it on, close it, open gray, open black. Water will flow highest to lowest. Close Gray and Black. The unit is of course full but drainable with it's own valve. CW Valve

I have a combo valve. It works only if your black and grey tank are on the same floor of the coach. I have used it and it works as advertised. I would may the same purchase again.

I have a similar twist-on valve I bought in Alamo, TX for $13.95; from an independant RV supply store. I have 2 gray tanks-not plumbed together, so the twist-on valve is often required for dry camping.
There is one caution; I would hesitate to push black tanks solids into the gray tank. The 1 1/2" line may become clogged quite easily. You'll note that valves instructions refer only to transferring gray water into the black tank but not visa versa.

Not only that, but you do not want any black tank waste inside your gray tank. This can lead to some foul odors.

SargeW, mine works fine. It expands my dry camping grey water capacity to 80G. I hesitate to leave it installed while driving over a few miles though. Since it is a twist-on, road vibrations may loosen it enough to dump all that grey water enroute.
One thing does bother me a bit. My sewer hose really swells and stretches while dumping all that water. Perhaps I need to invest in a better quality hose.

The twist-on valve replaces the sewer end cap, temporarily at least, until you reach a dump station. Upon reaching a dump station, the sewer hose attaches normally to the twist-on valve. With the valve attached, I may then open both grey water tank valves, allowing waste water to flow from the galley tank to the clothes washer waste tank, doubling holding capacity.
Note: it is illegal to travel with no end cap installed, per DOT rules. The end cap is a safety in case the permanent waste valve(s) fails, or is opened accidently.

So....
Has anybody determined that your black stuff does or does not enter your grey tank (as an unwanted phenomenon of using this)? -I'd like to use it, but I don't think I want this to happen. Someone said it drains from the fullest tank to the emptiest- So I guess you'd always want to be sure the grey was fuller (you'd keep the black valve closed until you had an almost full grey, and then open the black also). Anyone know the real physics here or have real world experience with this thing?

Happy flowage,

Drew

I have a 6" clear extension with a cap that has the garden hose attachment.I have a twist shutoff instead of the cap. I open the gray tank then the black tank. The clear extension allows you to see when the water stops flowing. Close the valves. When I am ready to dump I open the hose cap and drain the extension into a modified gallon milk jug.I then connect the slinky and dump.

Hi Drew,
Your post is correct on how to use this product. Wait until the grey tank is full. Install the combo valve. Make sure the combo valve is closed. Open the grey tank valve. Open the black tank valve. The grey water will go onto the the black tank until they are equal. Close the black tank valve. Close the grey tank valve.

This works only when the grey and black tanks are on the same floor of the coach. It will work if the grey tank sits higher than the black tank. However, one would need to carefully monitor the black tank so as not to over fill it.

Tetford (Sani-Con macerator) instructions recommends doing this to help clean the black tank. It seems that the soapy water from the grey tank helps clean the black tank.

Gary-

Thanks for the response. Most of the time we have full hook ups, so I'll try it in a "controlled" environment.
