Hey Guys & Gals.
How about if you wrap the outer edge of GPS with some 2-4" nylon webbing and adhere it with 2 sided foam tape? I saw something plastic for Garmins glare problems about a year ago it is a simple plastic sleeve that goes around the outer edge of the gps. And it worked majorly for cutting the glare issue.

I'm of the belief that if companies like RV builders, auto builders, or in this case RM makes a product in such a manner that there are problems with it and we as consumer's go along with buying a faulty item knowing we have to mickey mouse it so it will function as designed then things will never change.
Your thought is a good one to do away with the glare. I think if I'm going to buy a gps for that kind of money it will have to be problem free or at the least I gotta be able to see what is on the screen. Until then my money probably will go to the Magellan.

I agree with Fastcar. Your idea is a great one and would probably work. But I have a $ 200 Garmin unit in my car and I have no issues with glare. I resent paying $ 400 for a unit and then have to buy additional items to be able to see it. Maybe if everyone sent their 7710's back RM would do something about it.
I have a built-in NAV/Radio/CD Player in my truck, but the NAV is totally unreliable. I wanted a reliable unit as a replacement. 7710 would have fit the bill if I were able to see the screen.

Have you tried the 7" shade that is made for it? How about the anti glare screen protector?

Do the above items come with the purchased item? I am considering the 7" RM but won't bite until the screen glare is resolved.

I was looking at purchasing the 7710 and saw both on the accessories page. I am thinking of the reason why now.

The way it apparently works is, you buy the unit, can't see the screen, then spend more money to buy all sorts of anti glare add ons that may or may not solve the issue.
I've read either here or on another forum that the additional anti glare from RM didn't work all that well.
Actually this really too bad as the glare seems to be pretty much the only problem with it. But it is a deal breaker for me. Been looking for apps for the android to see what I can come up with.

No. They tap you an additional $13 for the anti glare screen attachment. An then another $20 for the sun shield. Plus everywhere I've checked, the sun glare shield is out of stock. Personally the sun shield doesn't look like it would do much, but not owning one i cannot say for sure.
So 400 bucks for the GPS and another 33 bucks to maybe be able to see it.

I don't know. I 've seen some people who must be driving with their eyes closed during the day.

The glare screen just keeps the finger prints off the screen
does not help with glare. 24 bucks gone thats what the screen
cost with shipping

I've now used mine for about 1,200 miles of desert driving with out serious glare issues. I haven't tried it with sun glasses yet. My wife could see it fine with her sun glasses. I am pleased with all the features I have used. It puts out quite a few warnings about speed, construction, state borders, length restrictions and etc. It also tells you when you change time zones.

I'm wondering what type of RV folks who are having the glare problem have. Is it a class A? If so, do you have additional window tint added to reduce the effects of the sun streaming into what is like a fishbowl?
If a class C the same question regarding additional window tint.

Had mine about a month now. I purchased the shade and the screen at the same time. The price seemed reasonable after reading about all the glare issues. Never had a problem.
