We use the Verizon Broadband Card (PC 5740) for out internet access when we are traveling. Seems we have 'sharing issues' when it comes to the cards use (well, you've had it for - insert hours here). So, I decided to look at sharing the connectiion.
Kyocera advertises the router as easy and simple to use. It will work from either an EVDO-capable PC card, or an EDVO-capable cell phone.
So I ordered one,and like they advertise, the installation & setup are a breeze. Got a connection first time, set up my WPA security and got an excellent wireless signal.
Haven't tried using 2 computers at the same time, but I expect some slowdown in bandwidth, but still much better than dial-up and from the comfort of your couch in the coach.

Mark, unless you're in an area where there exists "true" broadband speeds, I'm wondering what yout success will be...
I'm using National Access here in Nappanee on one laptop with acceptable results...
Keep us posted.

Hey Cuz - was any of that in English?
(Heck - I'm still trying to get the 12Vdc boondocking power to work; and this after a tranny re-build that wasn't in this year's budget!)

Also using a KR1 with great results. Julia and I are online at the same time a lot and unless one of us is downloading a large file there's no slowdown at all. It's a great tool. I posted this info a few weeks ago and I'm glad someone out there has also had great success with the KR1.

I thought I had seen a review of this, but when I searched I couldn't find it. So I decided to post mine.
My bad!

No problem. I'm glad people are using this new technology. I actually think my connection is faster than it was while my KPC650 was installed in the laptop. One thing that I think really helps in fringe areas is to use an external antenna. I've got one on the KPC650 and it really works well.

Does your antenna have to be mounted outdoors? And may we have the model number, please.

Here's a link to the antenna I use.
http://booster-antenna.com/index.php?main_page=product_...th=14&products_id=2 4
It's mounted by suction cup to the passenger side front window, behind the night curtain. I have the KR1 mounted on the wall next to the passenger seat. I get 100% signal strength through out the cabin and even a pretty good signal within 100 feet of the coach. I have WEP set up. Realize the booster antenna is for the evdo card, not the WiFi portion of the setup.

I was one of the first to have a KR1 when they became available. Had it for close to 3 months and then returned it. (fortunately for full credit) Anyway, the KR1 was very good but did have lets say issues. After the KR1, I started using a Top Global 3G Phoebus (MB6000) which is about $100 more. The Phoebus is a far better performer and it not problematic. Anyone considering a KR1 should look into the Top Global 3G Phoebus (MB6000). The KR1 is very good but again the Phoebus does more and is superior. Look Here for info. If you research, you will find my comments here are echoed by many others.
Also, if you when you purchase an aircard you want one with a port on it for an external antenna.

Your Verizon (PC 5740) does not have a port for an external antenna so you cannot use an external antenna with it.

I'm about to send my KR1 back as well. When it works, it works fine but often it drops the WiFi signal and I have to re-boot the router to make it work again. I read that enabling WEP might be the cause so I disabled WEP but the problem persists. Thanks for your input.
