The DW bought me a Logitech 700 universal remote control for Christmas, after hearing me complain about all of the remotes that we keep in the RV.

The remote is programmed via USB cable provided with the remote. You gather the model numbers of all of your components and plug them into the Logitech software. It took me about an hour to set everything up. I later when back and tweaked the programming, by adding some remote button preferences.

I love this new remote! With one button press, I now turn on my TV, set it to the correct input source, turn on my sound receiver and set it to the correct source, and power up my DVD or satellite receiver. The remote buttons light up and it has an LCD screen. The USB cable doubles as battery charger.

They are currently at Costco for around $97.

Craig

Yep, we have one. Once you figure out the programming, everything is easy.

I know this thread hasn't been active in a while but I wanted to throw in my $0.02. I am on my second Harmony remote in my stick house. The first was an 880. The current one is the Harmony One. The only reason I had to change was years of repeated drops on the floor and the brick hearth finally took their toll on the old unit. It actually was very durable.

One of the great things about the Harmony is the ease of programming it. More important to me is the ease of operation by those who arent' AV geeks like me. My family, including people who don't live with me, and babysitters all have no problems controlling a moderately complex system without any instruction in the use of the remote. I can't recommend them enough.

I hope to get one for the RV before too long.

Bad, bad Cliff841. You resurrected this topic & now I have to have 2, one for the stick & bricks & 1 for the RV.

Oops Doc Mark - I guess I am bad.

If it is any consolation now I have to buy one for the RV also. My wife doesn't like the RV remotes at all. Of course, I love the Harmony remotes so it is kind of nice to have the wife encouraging me to buy a gadget I like.
