Mods to ScanGuage D to see better

Hi - Just wondering what other folks have done to be able to see the display better when the sun is shinning in. I was thinking maybe some sort of hood or even a tiny LED reading light of some sort.

I haven't played with the background color and will try that next time. Does anyone know if this setting sticks or does it have to be reset every time?

Thanks
Ben

Change the background color and that will solve your problem. Pick one that works for you. It sticks.

Good to know thanks. It just irks me a little to reset the gauges that I want to see every time. It must take a whole minute yeesh!! lol just kidding I set the top 2 to MPH and RPM, to me it just seems a little easier to quickly glance down to the ScanGuage than the dash.

I set mine to MPG, TPS, Boost, and Temp. This way I can monitor instantaneous miles per gallon best.
Int. Mpg should always be higher than avg. Mpg. Boost should be as low as possible (least fuel going into engine), and TPS (throttle position)should be lowest number possible (smallest position of fuel to maintain speed).
Temp to ensure engine is not stressed. Especially summer.
Could also use LOD. Engine load. Use lowest no.possibe also.

I have the backlight display set to lamp>high, color>amber. Haven't had any trouble reading it day or night.

When I first hooked up the ScanGauge I checked the gauges that came with the coach for accuracy...they were good. I played with most of the SG gauges and settled on FWT, TFT, OIL and BST most of the time.

I too would have to reset the gauges every time I shut down. I sent Linear Logic an email to see if there was a way to save the settings, this is what they replied.

"Does the ScanGauge shut down immediately with the vehicle? If so, this is what is causing the issue. Normally the ScanGauge takes about 15-30 seconds to shut down after the vehicle has been shut off. During this time it is saving data. However, some vehicles cut power to the diagnostic port when the vehicle is shut down. To fix this issue, you will need to set the TRIPS to AB in the advanced set up menu. To access this setting select MORE>SETUP>scroll to ADV SETTINGS>EDIT>scroll to TRIPS>scroll to AB. When the trips is set to AB, the ScanGuage will save data when it sees the vehicle come to a stop. So after you have set the trips to AB, make sure to move the vehicle. Simply putting the vehicle into reverse and moving the vehicle back should be enough movement."

I followed their instructions and I haven't lost my settings since. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info Jamin Samin! It will be nice not having to reset it all the time and I will try the amber background also.

I went to green and put a black sun shade just on the top. Much easier to see now and does not interfere with button pushing.
