No serial number on an Ice maker OK?

Is it legal to sell a new appliance like a countertop Ice maker without a serial number? For real, no guesses. Everything I have seen says no. It there a consumer expert in the house?

I wanted one of those little Ice makers for the counter. I bought this one because it was cheaper .

It lasted three days before the motor got loud as if the bearing was going. Then the "Ice bin full" sensor went and the ice filled until it jammed. I found that it wasn't returnable until I spoke with a tech. No way to call tech, only leave a number. Never called back. Same with Email. Amazon did refund on an A to Z claim. I couldn't find any serial number on it.

I told myself that it was what I got by trying to save $20 and bought the Igloo. It arrived yesterday. It was the same machine with only slight differences in the case. Same manufacturer The "ice full sensor" quit within a day. Ice jammed in the bin and might have wrecked the mechanism.

I called Amazon Tech. They knew nothing at all. After half an hour they connected me with an employee if the wholesale that supplies them with the logos of the places on them. What is the serial number? I can't find one. Then I can't do anything. Where is it? On a sticker on the outer packaging box! No sticker on mine. It looked like one was pulled off at some point but none there. Then I can't help you call back if you find it.

Could they be selling returns and defective items? They won't take them back no matter what. Something fishy is going on. Some poking around shows that every brand I could find was from the same maker. There were 2 models.

Would Amazon just give them free reign to sell anything, not cover it and Amazon pays off if you yell loud enough?

Rant over. I got worked up. Planned to replace the RV jack's pump today but spent the afternoon on the phone. Oh yes... For some reason the option to rate the seller is not there. I asked Azon about that. They will call me back.Am I kicking a $118
Whew... I feel better now!

Small appliances like that don't usually have a serial number. Microwaves do, but toasters, garbage disposals, blenders, coffee makers etc don't. Not unusual for one company to provide an item sold with many different brand names and slightly different cosmetics.
