NSF Certified water filters

Water quality is important to me, and I have been looking for water filters to use with our new RV. I have seen some interesting ones, but so far none that seem to be actually sub-micron NSF certified to 42, 53 and 401. There isn't room onboard, so this would be an external filter.

Has anyone found a unit that is actually NSF certified?

This is a new Camco filter that came out a few months ago that is NSF 42 & 53 certified. The main description does not list the NSF53 rating but it does in the description further down. It also lasts twice as long as their previous model. It doesn't get the really small stuff like an under-sink model would, but you said that wasn't possible anyway.

I don't see any mention of NSF 53 certification, which is for lead, etc.

We will not drink water from a filter that is not NSF 53 certified!

My rig came with a 3M cartridge unit designed for offshore boats. Supposed to remove almost everything. Cartridge cost is near $150.

Not all NSF 53 filters remove lead. Check the individual filterspecs. Also note that lead reduction on std 10 inch filters is often only for the first 1500-2000 gallons of use. Many filters are tested by other labs than NSF to avoid the high NSF fees, so are marked compliant or certified to, not certified by NSF. Also NSF 362 means that it does not contain lead, not that it removes it.
