Our family loves spaghetti. While it’s a simple dish to create while camping (with canned spaghetti sauce), it seems to take forever to get the needed 2 quarts of water to boil on our 3 burner stove. On our last trip it took over 20 minutes.

While sitting at home watching the tube, I saw a commercial for a pasta cooking system called “Pasta n’ More.” It cooks pasta in your microwave with the use of a plastic container. Now this might be an idea that many people are doing already with their own microwave dish, but how would one know how much water to add or how long to cook the pasta? Trail by error I suppose. I’m a sucker for info-mercials though, so I bought the Pasta n’ More.

We used it for the first time last night and it worked as advertized. It cooked 1 box of spaghetti pasta in 22 minutes, about the same time it use to take just to boil the water. It’s perfect for RV-ing because it’s compact, lightweight and has a built-in strainer. It cooks more than just pasta, but we haven’t tried it on anything else yet.

My only complaint is that the directions that come with the system are kind of confusing. I made a label for the top of the storage lid that says, "One box of Spaghetti...add water to level 6...cook for 22 minutes."

The Pasta n’ More sells for $20 plus $8 S&H on the Pasta n’ More website. You can find them for less however on Amazon.com and eBay. I bought mine on eBay.

Craig

Craig,

Why would anyone eat canned spaghetti sauce?

Thanks for the tip, we might try the cooker.

Maybe because he likes it. I know it is fast. I like the stuff home made but some of the stuff in the jars are good.

We have a similar unit called Fasta Pasta, it really works great saves heating up the RV boiling water. Had it at a Rally and two diffrent couples wanted to use it also.

Hey, Craig P: What sized box of spaghetti do you use (ie. lbs.?) Also, how much could you cook at one time, say for a larger group (ie., what's the capacity of the Pasta n More?)

Looks like a GREAT thing. We like spaghetti but have refrained from often cooking it exactly becaused of the boil time problem. Thanks.
