A few years ago Starbucks sold a large glass glove contraption that used vacuum to draw hot water over the ground coffee. Does anyone else remember these? I just remember them being $200 or so!

$200? Eh, that's a bit overpriced. Pick up a stove top model for about $50

These do indeed make fantastic coffee but they're fussy.

Thanks for contributing to the noble pursuit of great coffee on the road! A coworker of mine uses the aero press and it, indeed, makes a great tasting cup. Like you I also found French press to be too messy on cleanup. The aero press just doesn’t make enough for me, so after much continuous improvement, here’s my recipe/setup: Melitta #4 filter in a Mecraft ceramic, single hole pour over funnel on a 20oz Contigo thermos. 30g of whole beans in a Handground Precision burr grinder. Once you get the grind size dialed in for your particular bean, it’s the perfect blend of enough coffee, quick setup, easy cleanup and great tasting coffee. The aero press is great too, can’t go wrong with either imho. Cheers.
