I replaced the Power gear hydraulic assembly on our 1996 Pace in August 2007. In May 2008 had to replace the Control and Touch Pad parts. Now in August the Power unit makes so much noise it would wake the dead. Talked to Power Gear they won't cover it under warranty. Since it does what it is suppose to do, there is nothing wrong with the pump. They say it is a Bearing in the motor and will not cover it. They sell a repair kit $280.00. There excuse is that the RV Manufacturers don't protect the system when they mount it. So it gets water to it from driving in the rain taking out the bearings. The first system lasted 11 years this one lasted 13 months I give up. There is $3,000.00 invested in this system it's 13 months old and they want more money. I don't know how good other systems are but Power Gear leaves a lot to be desired. And to think they own Kwikee Step and I believe it's in the rain all the time too. And I just replace the step too wonder how long it's going to last.

You can go to there web site and it shows how to replace the bearing. I'm sure you can match it someplace I doubt they make the bearing.

I'm sure I can fix the problem recently retiring just short of 45 years with the same company. I spent 34 of those years in Maintenance troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic systems. Then 11 years chasing and purchasing the parts to repair the same. It's the fact they won't stand behind the product finding some feeble excuse to not cover it. Does this mean you replace the bearings every year? The hardest part of the problem is getting the unit out from where it is mounted.
