I'm wondering if everyone is happy with the performance of their Pressure Pro since they installed the external antenna?
There have not been any posts on this for almost a month now, so I'm hoping this has fixed the problem. I still haven't installed mine, waiting for the antenna bracket.

I got the revised monitor and sensors a couple of weeks ago. The monitor has a 4" or so antenna coming out the top of the monitor instead of the two horizontal ones. It also has the external antenna kit.
Supposedly, the 4" vertical antenna and the new sensors are supposed to eliminate most of our "lost sensor" problems. Its hard to explain, but I had alot of problems in getting the monitor to read all the sensors at first. It seems that the valve on the sensors are very "touchy" to mating with the dill valves on the tires. The sensors wouldnt always read the pressures. I tried using the external antenna by setting it up on a shelf about half way back in the coach to see if that helped. It didnt seem to make a difference. Yesterday, it lost a signal one sensor for like a split second. It only alarmed for a second and found the sensor right away. That was using just the 4" built in antenna.
So to answer your question, I just dont know yet. We will be on a two week vacation next week and I am taking the external antenna with me and will see what happens.
My guess is, that they are not quite there yet. And I think the problem is in the sensors and not in the monitor.
I think it was the motorhomemagazine.com site someone posted about the electrical contacts on the sensors being faulty on a new set he got and they had to send different ones.

ISLAPP, I believe you are right about the problem being with the sensors and not the monitor. I have started to notice that it's always the same 2 sensors that lose the signal and it seems to happen when I hit a good bump, pothole or whatever. The signal comes back in a few minutes and is solid until the bump, so I can drive all day and maybe have them fail a couple of times.
When you got the new monitor did they send a bracket to mount the antenna?

The external antenna kit came in an enclosed bag that included about a 8-10" whip, coax cable and a U-shaped bracket to connect the coax and the antenna to.

I have just returned on a 5300 mile trip with the new monitor, external antenna and sensors. About 1000 miles into the trip I lost a signal from one of the sensors for about 1/2 hour then it came back and was trouble free for the rest of the trip in all kinds of weather and road conditions . My problem now is someone stole the 4 sensors off my toad for whatever reason when my wife took it to work. I will call Pressure Pro tomorrow to see if I can get a break on 4 more. From now on I will remove them from my toad until towing. Lesson learned.

Well I had the chance to see how the revised unit would work during a long trip. Every so often I would get a lost sensor warning. It would only beep for a couple of seconds and it took several times to finally see which sensor was causing it. It was my right side rear inside dual. I thought if that is the only problem I have, I can live with it. Well, all of a sudden one day at the campground, my left front tire warned showing low pressure. It said the pressure was 56 pounds. I checked the tire and it was 82PSI. I put the sensor back on and it showed 77PSI. Couple of minutes later it warned again of low pressure. I spoke to Scott at Doran and found out they have once again updated or revised the sensors. My revision version had gotten about 90percent of the problems resolved per him. The latest revision has hopefully removed the other ten percent. I received the new sensors yesterday along with the new monitor that is needed for those sensors and installed without a hitch. I must say this is the first time that I was able to go thru one tire at a time without having a problem with one sensor or another not registering on the monitor. I have not road tested the new unit but will do so this weekend.
I still say they are trying to get this right and hopefully we are there. I have not needed to use the additional external antenna that they are providing. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the update Mike. I'm getting a little ticked at these folks. Seems like you have to find out what is going on here rather from them. I didn't know about the external antenna fix until I read it here. When they sent out the revised monitor with antenna they forgot to send the mounting bracket for the antenna, in fact I still don't have it. So far they have replaced the sensors once with an updated version and I'm on my third monitor since the Beta testing model. I'm not sure that most poeple would not have given up on them by now and shipped the works back.

When we are discussing their updated units, it might be hard to know which one each person has.
The "updated" unit that I just sent back has one white dot on the bottom of each sensor and has a 3-4" vertical antenna on the monitor. On this lastest and greatest version that I got yesterday, the monitor looks the same but apparently its inner workings are different inorder to accomodate the new sensors. I was in such a hurry to install it last night, that I didnt look at the bottom of the sensors to see what kind of markings it had on them.
Like I said, the one thing that I am hoping indicates that this might finally be the fix we are looking for is the fact that as I installed each sensor, the monitor found that sensor and locked in. In the past, it always seemed that I would find one or two that kept giving me a hassle in getting it to lock in on the initial set up. As far as the external antenna, dont know for sure if you even need it.
Talk to Scott and get the latest version sent out. They will pay to have the other one returned to them.

I just received a new unit and 3 of the 10 sensors were DOA. I moved them to various locations and never got them to report in. So as of now I have 7 of 10 working. Each time I moved them, I deleted the previous sensor. I was able to move the woking 7 around and get them to report in every time. The 3 that are DOA have 1 white dot and a black pin, the ones that work have no dots and a silver pin.

The sensors with one white dot is what I would call revision "one". Revision "two" I was told has two dots. When I put revision "two" sensors on the other day, I forgot to look at them to see just what they had on them, but Scott at Doran said he thought they had two dots. I do know that the unit I sent back, revions "one" only had one dot.

Any news from Doran? How about it Bill?? (Warpath) Are these units going to work anytime soon? Concept is great but a reliable, working product would even be better when we are talking about tire safety issues. Please fill us in on the status. Can we expect a working, reliable product from Doran any time in the near future? Thanks

Clint

Update.
I have had the lastest revision in the coach now for two or three weeks. First, as I mentioned earlier, it programmed in each sensor faster than the previous units. They do not have any dots on the sensors. They have a silver tipped metal prong on the under side. If for some reason the monitor losses a signal from a sensor, only the light for that sensor comes on now. No audible alarm. The monitor constantly is reading the sensors now, no "sleeping" mode. They say this is better and that the battery life should be longer. Also what is nice about this feature is that you can check you tire pressures at any time without having to move the coach. For example, now, before you start out in the morning, you can just toggle thru the sensors and get the current reading. Under previous versions, you would have to move the coach a few rotations to get an update. When it comes time to replace the sensor battery, they will send you new sensors and then you send the old ones back for them to refurbish them. I took the coach out this weekend without the toad. The monitor lit up showing loss of signal to the four toad tires but no alarm. That was fine. I could have deleted that toad by toggling the up/down button but just left it as it was since it wasn't making any noise. As soon as I got home and took the car out for something, the monitor saw the toads sensors and the lights went off.
So, I think they might be there with this revision. They only thing we have to deal with now is that some may need that external antenna depending on length of coach and electronic interference. You wont know if you need one until you try the unit without it.
Also, it is possible that from time to time, the FM signal may be interrupted briefly and you might see a sensor light come on until the monitor finds that sensor again. But since it doesnt alarm, it isnt an anoyance. Just the occasional look at the monitor will tell you if it isnt finding a particular sensor. For example, I was parked at the campground on Sat. and happened to look at the monitor and one of the dual rear wheels was lit up for loss signal. A couple of mins. later, it was ok. Since we are dealing the FM signals, I guess various things could from time to time interfere with that.

Thanks for that update Mike. I was kinda waiting to here how things where working out on your second trip.

As Mike said, now if there is a loss of signal only a visual notice will display. The signal should return the next time signal is sent. So really once you take off on a trip you do not need to look at your display. A audible signal will come on when you have a loss of 12 1/2% of PSI and more rapid audible signal when you reach 25% pressure loss.

I really like the fact that now you can check your tire pressure readings during your pre-trip vehicle checklist without moving the vehicle as was the case in the past.

BTW: we are running a sale on the Pressure Pro System --> Go Pressure Pro

Bill
