I just installed the unit, pretty simple except for wrestling the heavy wires inside the cramped box and fitting the amperage sensors over the wires. I had a problem and had to remove the unit and reinstalled later. While it was out, I tinned, soldered together, the multi-strand cables and found that it was MUCH easier to install the cables than without tinning. I haven't installed the remote indicator yet and am not wild about the constant status flashing of this unit where it might be annoying. For those who have installed the remote indicator, where did you place it?

I'm installing a 30 amp in my coach now. The indicator will go on the face of the circuit breaker/fuse panel. It seems a logical location yet it is out of sight behind the panel cover.

You are correct in that the flashing display in the bedroom is not a good option.

I installed my display in the toilet room because the wire wasn't any longer and I can see it easily.

Others have used the telephone jacks as an extension to get the display up front without running wires.

I just finished installing the 50A version. Yes, the wire were hard to wrestle with, but perseverance paid off

I placed the remote right next to the EMS in the bin, next to the ATS. I figure that when I hook up, I'll have the bin open already when I removed the 50A plug-in cable. I'll just check the status before I close the bin door. If there's a problem, I'll see it. If a problem arises later, I can check it in the bin.

If that setup doesn't work, then I'll move the remote to somewhere in the coach.

Actually I have two displays.

One is in the power bay where I can see what the initial status is, and with the other display inside I can frequently keep an eye on the power status.

Hi Yudamann. I noticed your thread about "Progressive 50 Amp hard wired" but missed the part about the "Unit" that was installed.

Is the "Unit" a 50 amp upgrade kit ?

If it is where/how can I get info. on it.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I installed mine in the top of my outside service compartment next to the power switch for the 50 amp cord, I too didn't want it inside looking at those flashing lights.

I installed mine in the electrical service bay and observe all readings after I plug in to shore power. When I have had power interuptions I can tell by the flashing clock or microwave. I then go out to the bay and check for any error codes and observe voltage readings on both lines...if the power is still near the high or low limits I shut off the power at the circuit breaker and report the situation to Park management. In one situation (high voltage) the park had a transformer problem that required them to move several RV's until the situation could be corrected.

I too didn't want the flashing display within eyesight in the living area or on my control panel in the hallway. So, as I have a electical cabinet in the bathroon above the toilet, I mounted my remote display there. Easy to get there when (if) a problem arrises an no red LED to anoy me.

Mine is mounted in the 'One Place' where all the other indicators and controls are, just outside the bathroom.

Since our unit is installed underneath the master bedroom wardrobe, DW put the display on the wall inside the wardrobe. I'm in that wardrobe dozens of times, so it's easy for me to keep tabs on the readings.

Mine is located in the power bay. I want to check the voltage now, before I go inside and find out it just blew. I can see if the power is good. After that, the auto gen takes over. And it does work.

Had a low leg in a campground last month. The gen started and I checked the display, saw a low leg and spoke to the cg manager. Moved to another spot.

If it's in a closet/cabinet, might as well be easily accessible when I hook up.

We spent last winter in Mexico, where high voltage is very common. I discovered that our EMS was mis-calibrated, so the voltage always read higher than the actual voltage, causing it to shut off power to the rig more often than necessary. I sent an email to Progressive and immediately received a reply telling me how to calibrate each leg.

Great customer service!
