I have had the portable 50 amp version for 5-1/2 years, without any problems. I have used it full time, even when the MH is not in use and plugged in next to my house.

I also have the portable 50 amp. Would rather have it outside the coach if it burns out then in the bay. Smelled a coach where a shurguard burned up and it smelled bad for a long time.

I noticed RVUpgrades has the PT30C for $263.90; the 50 amp version goes for $365.30. Not a bad price.

Please don't compare Progressive Industries EMS sytems to a Surguard surge protector.

I think I read somewhere that you should keep the Progressive portable unit in the upright position. This does a better job of staying weather tight.
It seems like at most pedestals the portable unit will end up in the upright position. Since I read that, I make an effort to place it as upright as possible.
It has amazed me that it has worked flawless for 5-1/2 years, so far. It has been in a lot of heavy rains.
