So far Ramsond has shipped me a new air cleaner with gasket, which I haven't received yet. I've attempted to attach a photo of the broken air cleaner just so interested parties can see the plastic part and how it was broken all the way aroung where it bolts on the carburetor.
It's kind of odd that they expected me to do the replacement myself...either that or I have to pay the shipping to send the generator to them. Hmmmm....
As far as the problem with the 33V, the tech support guy (his name is "Christian Sirois" sirois18@hotmail.com) told me to check for loose wiring or plugs, and check the voltage coming out of the plug from the inverter. He also said that if the inverter is bad, they are on back order...leaving me no option????
Well until I get the replacement air cleaner, I won't run the unit. When I get the part, I'll update this post again.

Hi all! I'm new to the site, but found your forum while searching for Ramsond reviews. The hubby and I purchased a 3500 series Sinemate Digital Inverter generator through "padovaimports", who by the way simply sells the generators for Ramsond on ebay, and as an additional note, they have marked up the price from $650 to $1899.00 since March 2010! Anyway, back to the original post, we bought our generator in late March of this year, had it for 3 months, and it blew something through the top of the motor (fyi, I am not motor "savvy" so this is the best I can do), it had less than 100 hours on it. We contacted Ramsond in Michigan, we sent pictures, they send a prepaid mailing label, we mailed it back, they sent a new generator which we got at the very end of June. Their turnaround was fantastic, as was their customer service and tech departments (Chris). Anyway, generator number two has been used for probably around 100 hours, not sure, but anyway, it now makes strange noises and doesn't want to idle, let alone pull a load of any sort and has blown oil all over inside the case. Not sure where it's coming from at this point.
All we ever ran on it were the lights and TV in our Wildcat 33' fifth wheel toy hauler, and even I know that that is not a big load to pull. Anyway, I have contacted Ramsond for a second time, which by the way, the tech department and ramsond website are not actually Ramsond, these people deal with us, then they in turn contact Ramsond to see what they will do for you. I am awaiting the verdict on whether or not they are sending another prepaid label for shipping back as I KNOW the issues are not caused by our use of the generator. We set it on a wooden base to ensure proper air flow, check the oil EVERY time before use, and use it at least twice a month. We did have some issues with the primer bulb leaking and refused to stay in place, but other than that, when its running it is fantastic. I did ask for my money back this time and they informed me that that would not be an option......hmmmm.....and also, just as another note of information, the one year warranty starts from the day you purchased the original unit, even though they sent me a new unit in June, my warranty on that unit does not start fresh, it goes from last March. Sound strange to anyone other than me.......new unit, new warranty, right? NOPE, not this company. So just waiting it out now to hear what the verdict will be, it really better be replaced this time too since we don't overload the unit and we do care for it properly. I'll be sure to update for all those future folks looking for reviews, sure hope they pull through!

Wight26 and TozerBGood any updates on your units? I check this Thread ocassionally to see if anyone else has purchased a Ramsond and how the units out there are operating. We used ours again above the 6000 ft level (Arches NP and Capitol Reef NP) for a week and it continues to do the job.

Well, not much luck with the Ramsond folks. I'm currently still fighting to speak with the US division manager, Tom Nunley. He spoke with me once and sent me a prepaid mailing label to return my second broken unit. I returned it, they told me it was a step motor that went out after only about 20 hours (checked with my hubby and my original estimate of 100hours was way off). I have advised him I do not want my unit back, that I want a refund, but apparently the warranty states no refunds, so then I told him I wanted the next larger unit. He offered me the next larger unit for $260 more, and free s/h. Due to the extensive issues we have encountered and weeks without a generator, I countered with $200, free s/h, a new 12 month warranty, and if it breaks within that first 12 months, I want a full refund of what I've paid. Since counter offering, I have been calling daily only to be told that Tom is not in the office. Apparently, Tom is the only manager, comes in between 10-11am and is gone by 2pm. No one else has the authority to speak with me regarding the issue, and Tom has thus far not returned my call, it's been a week and a half now. I even sent an email, which Tom told me on the phone he sees all emails that come through....hmmm. So I forwarded my email to the tech support guy, Chris who meant to forward it on to Tom but replied to me instead. He wrote, "Tom, she called AGAIN. Guess she likes you more than us." Obviously, they are aware of me and my issues. All it takes is a return phone call! I am very frustrated at this point and will be contacting the BBB, and maybe the headquarters in China! That'll cost me I'm sure! Guess I should've spent the money from the get go and bought a Honda or Yamaha quiet one......lesson learned. I'll be sure to update what they do next, if anything!

Wight26,
I really appreciate your updates. However, now I gotta speak up. At this point in your dispute, I think you're going too far. Very few mfgrs would ever warranty the 2nd replacement unit after the expiration date of the original units warranty.
He made a generous offer of the next bigger unit for $260 plus free S&H. When you rejected that and tried to dicker for more, I'm sure he rolled his eyes over your unreasonable expectations. His offer stands and he is not obligated to go any further. A lot of people in his position would then simply ignore your repeated attempts to hold out for more.
Despite the fact that most Chinese products are of vastly inferior quality and durability, they still have value due to their amazingly low purchase price (due in large part to their manipulative games with the valuation of their currency). I sheepishly confess I buy a fair amount of Chinese power tools. So what if they don't last a year? They served their purpose of a short term requirement. Besides, for what I saved, there's money left over to buy a 2nd or 3rd one.
Now that I've read these posts, I decided these Ramsonds are not for me because my genny situation requires long term dependability. So I'll have to pay 2X or 3X for Japanese or American. However if my need was short term or occasional, l'd still give these Ramsonds serious consideration.

I think you can safely conclude that your counter offer has been rejected. The ball is in your court - accept a same-model replacement for free or the bigger size upgrade for $260. Or, I guess, file a suit in small claims court.
While it may seem irrational that they won't warranty the new replacement for another 12 months, that is standard warranty practice and far from unique to Ramsond.

New to the forum and I came across this thread while looking for reviews on the Ramsond 3500 rv boat marine inverter portable generator. I was just wondering if you had any advise as to whether this was a good deal or not. I'm a little worried that I would get one that did not last over 100 hours as one of the post talked about. Has anyone else had any of these problems? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I needed a small generator for my boat.........I bought a Kipor generator and it was defective.....I bought it to a Kipor authorized dealer and they told me it was not repairable, they called me and sent me 2 very nice brand name adjustable campground chairs for my patient ( one month).....and a brand new IG 2000 sinewave inverter generator. The original generator was not even a sine wave generator, but they were excellent in customer service.
So I guess the moral of the story is to be patient and you will be rewarded.........at this age being patient is pretty easy.
