I bought one of the fans off e-bay and am really pleased with it! Before I installed it, there was a difference of 8 degrees between the top shelf and the bottom shelf of the fridge. After installing the fan, the temp is exactly the same top and bottom! I used velcro to attach it to the fins so there is no rattle.

After I installed an Amish cooling unit I also installed two of the type of fans that are shown in the eBay link. After seeing Max Hubrich's pics a few months ago I noticed they were modified computer hard drive fans. I was able to purchase two of them for $15 delivered Masscool 4B02S4 Hard Disk Cooler Double Fan Hard Drive Cooling Sleeve Bearing Case Fan-Best Computer Online Store Houston Buy Discount Prices Texas-Directron.com and attached an aligator clip to each one. On my fridge there is no hot connection available with the doors closed, so I ran a wire down the drain line and picked up 12V from the back of the fridge. I also added an ON/OFF switch so I could leave the fans set in place.

The fans have definitely made a difference in maintaining cooler temps in the refer box.

Norcold doesn't recommend it probably because it might put out the fire.

I have seen a lot of positive feedback about the "Ebay fans." I have to wonder why the refrigerator manufacturers don't put those fans in the units to begin with?

I'm just a weekend camper and have no icing problems, so I just mounted a 12V computer fan, with a switch, under the top shelf. I was able to find 12V on the light switch.

I've had my fridge running since October- No more icing up in the fridge- NOTHING!

We keep it packed full most of the time. I did have to install two of these little beauties to get to this point. Just one didn't hack it.

Oh, I used small strips of Velcro to hold them in place. I "spanned" TWO aluminum fins in the four courners- of each fans location. It works great.

The freezer seems to have less ice in it also--

I'm a believer-

BobGed how quite are the fans, and do they put out enough
air flow velocity? I put in a electric fireplace and the fan is not
very strong the hot air comes out and strait up to the ceiling
and to the front of the trailer thinking of putting two of those
fans just above the fireplace to push the air more strait across
the room what do you think will be strong enough?

They don't move a lot of air, and are fairly loud as I can hear them even with the doors closed. Would something like this work for your needs:

We installed one of the small fans several months ago and have noticed an improvement in cooling ability of fridge. We always try and make sure fridge is not tightly packed and precool everything before we take it out to MH. The fan we bought was a cheap one, both price and quality of material, but we just wanted to see if a fan would make a significant difference in cooling and it did.Setting o n fridge are now lower than before and it still stays cooler. When this cheapie goes out I will then replace with a better unit.

I find it confusing that the same model # fridge in my MH is slightly warmer than the one I had in my 5er. The 5er always sat with the fridge on the sunny side and with the MH, it is on the shaded side. I have the same computer fan mounted in the same location below the top shelf too. I've always heard that they work better in the shade.
