After nearly missing a few of the lower steps while exiting the camper with Bailey for one of our nightly adventures, I decided to purchase a pair of the SureSteps. At first, the DW was not too excited about my latest gadget purchase but now loves the product. The product extends the step surface about one inch and provide nice lighting for entry and exit on those dark nights. Installation was easy with the proper tools and I would suggest keep a few extra batteries on hand.

I agree. Had mine for a couple of years. The lighted steps are excellent for night time entry and exit.

Gary,

We are going to have to remove the batteries from our steps because the squirrels have decided they enjoy sitting on and around the steps while shelling walnuts. It took a while to realize the impact they were having on the life span of the batteries.

I've seen the RV sure steps, and they are a nice product.

Apparently the squirrels like using them too as a nightlight for shelling

I do not know if they are enjoying the shelling or playing with the motion detectors. Either way they have an expensive nut cracker or dance floor.

Tom,
I'm LMAO when I read your squirrel post. I never heard that before. I guess when you leave the squirrels will be sad.

If your coach has an auto step retractor, consider turning it on. When you close the door the steps will retract. Maybe the squirrels will now not like the nut cracking dining area and leave.

Gary,

The offending squirrels are in my back yard. I will pull the battery tubes and find out if they are only there to play with my lights. If they want to snack in the dark, that is OK with me.

Well, my experience with the RV SureStep was lets call it a disaster. The last product I would recommend to anyone! I installed and re-installed over 6 (YES, 6) different pairs on my Class A. That's the original pair and then 5 more pair. The replacements were provided by the owner of RVInnovations who manufactures the RV SureStep. Each pair lasted a few days to weeks and then died due to interior moisture related issues. Even the newest improved version of the RV SureStep was problematic. The owner of RVInnovations finally gave me my $ back and a free EV Ez Level which they also produce. I still have a pair on my Class A. (If I take them off I have unsightly holes left from the product installation) They look aok, increase the size of the step and have a nice pad they but do not light. Poor product design that cannot handle moisture. This moisture can be from rain and or temperature change which creates moisture in the unit to the point that the light goes on and off at will or not on at all. Aside from this there is no on and off switch so you drive down the road at night and they go on and off with each passing car.. Poor product, Great customer service! Save your $ .. In closing, read my other posts on iRV2 RV Forum and you will see I rarely if at all, make negative comments about anything. This is really an over priced, gimic product that does not perform properly!

Bill...boy you really tell it as it is...or appears to be...to you. Most people will get this far in the review and elect to take a pass on the RV SureStep based on your forcefully worded comments. My experience is far far different and...just in case you're wondering...unbiased... as I have absolutely no relationship to the manufacturer.

I've had RV SureSteps on my last two rigs and consider them one of my best RV investments. The comforting light blue lights on the leading edge of the steps provide a cheery welcome every time I enter..or exit...my coach. Very, very cool blue lights. The extra landing area and well lit leading edge of the RV SureSteps are a huge safety advantage and provide valuable peace of mind. The only time I experienced any thing close to Bill's critical review occur only when the batteries reached the end of their battery life...about one full season...maybe twice a year if you are a fulltimer.

I've owned RV SureSteps since they came out
and am aware of occasional failures due to improper weather seals.I understand that early users...like myself...are offered replacements...for free if they experience problems like Bill's. I guess I'm lucky...two sets of SureSteps...and no problems.

Submitted with respect...TIM

Hello Bill,

Hopefully the moisture issues related to your installation have been resolved. The units on my MH have been through rain, sleet, snow and mud over the last three months with no problems to this point. I will keep a close watch for moisture when I access the the battery area.

PS Do you have any of the before and after axle weights on your Southwind after the installation of the Overbilt Lift? I have had several people tell me it has a big impact on handling on their gas mh.

I like them so much that i also bought 2 more complete units for the inside minus rubber pads , One set for hallway and another for the bathroom. nice motion lights.
On the outside if it reallys bother you , just remove the batteries until you get to your distination then place the tubes back in with the batteries.

Well, as I mentioned, the owner of RV Inovations bent over backwards to get me a pair of RV Suresteps that would perform without problem. He spent alot of time on the phone with me on more then a few occasions. He sent me newly designed models as they became available.. He admitted moisture related issues and said he had the steps re-designed (at great expense to his company) to affect a fix. He sent me I believe three sets of the newly designed steps and they too became intermittent and would flicker on an off or totally off after moisture built up in them. YES, they were well sealed properly. Rv Inovations even installed batteries and sent me units that they said they rested and that were sealed correctly and they to had major moisture issues. As I mentioned before, RV Inovations had very good customer support BUT could not deliver a product that worked properly and without moisture related issues. My full purchase $ was refunded to me in the form of a check from the owner of RV Inovations. He threw in an RV EZ level for my troubles.. Sure, I would truly enjoy having a pair of SureSteps that would work as the idea and light is terrific but RV Inovations gave up trying to get me a pair that worked. For those thinking I am exaggerating or have a grudge against RV Inovations, think again.. I do not. I wish RV Inovations could get me a pair that worked.... perhaps they have yet a new design since the last I had a few months ago. How about it RV Inovations, care to try again. I will post a retraction of my negative posts here. Hmmmm, as I mentioned I have a of RV SureSteps on my Class A but they will not light..
