Well one of the best things about Amazon is they let you create a "Wish List", with that you can then pick items what you want. So this year I did just that, created "Gene's Christmas list" and sent it over to the Wife. With that I received a ScanGauge II, BatteryMINDer (12248), headlight restoration kit and tree identification books.

So what does one do in New Jersey during the first snowfall? Well we exercised the generator for one hour with 3,000 watts of load (heaters) on it and installed our ScanGauge II.

Out of the box it plugs in easy and the instructions along with Oemy's website will have you displaying your data in a matter of minutes.

I was mostly interested in transmission temperature, voltage, engine temperature. And engine oil temperature. Unfortunately I can not get the engine oil temperature to work. On their website it does say "experimental" for CANSF. I guess I will need to read up on what CANSF and VPW mean.

I am looking forward to to getting baseline temperature when I bring it to the dealer in a couple of weeks for the brake recall, the trip computer looks interesting also.

Next (when it warms up) will be to install the BatteryMINDer. I have two sets of ring terminal cord sets. One will be for the house batteries and one for the engine battery. My thought is to alternate between the two every couple of weeks.

Question? If I leave the coach plugged in to shore power and disconnect (turn off) the AUX battery will the inverter still charge the house batteries? I need to do a little investigation before hooking this all up. If any of you have one please let me know how you did yours.

Looks interesting but it says:
"UltraGauge currently does not support Manufacturer specific gauges such as Transmission temperature."

In some vehicles the transmission temp is not part of the ECU i.e. my Subaru and is monitored by the TCU. If I want to monitor the trans temp I will install a sender in the trans cooler line. The TCU controls the VDC and front to back dynamics in AWD.
The Ultra Gauge folks seem to be working to compete so I would be willing to bet they will try and match Scan Gauge.

I'm also a ScanGauge II owner... Great tool for diagnostic and watch engine performance. I've actually learn what conditions produce the best performance and MPG for my truck.

Very helpful for getting the high MPG numbers...

ScanGauge II has the Xgauge function that allows for programming your own gauges if you have the code information...

Here is a generic PID listing...
