I'm looking for recommnedations on holding tank venting. There are a number of venturi type vents that look like they make sense. When I look at products like the Xtreme Vent I'm a little dismayed at the installation instructions showing caulking as the replacement for a stack cap.
I'm looking for recommendations on products - how they work, a "clean" installation etc.

Hi lpasekof,
Go to Cyclone Sewer Vent - Item - Camping World to see what I have installed on all my vent pipes. The install is easy and required no special tools. The wife approves so they must work.

I installed a cyclone vent and it looks pretty cool up there twirling around. That is the only difference I have noticed between it and the OEM cap.

We put the cyclone vents on ours. Installation was easy and they work great. Camping World had them buy one, get one free. You do need to caulk around the trim cover.

Those caps look pretty up there, but people seem to forget that air can't come out the vent stack unless it comes in somewhere else. And the only place/time air can come into the black tank is when the toilet is flushed.

When we are sitting still we have no smell while flushing the toilet. However when we are moving, OMG , what a smell.
Will the Cyclone Vent prevent this?

Sewer smell while moving is often the air-vent leaking gasses back into the MH.
Sitting still, I never noticed it until one time we started moving. Whew!!! Yuck!!! Yikes!!! The tank was swooshing around and creating gas pressure that leaked back into the MH through a faulty air vent underneath the kitchen sink. I replaced it, but the replacement was also faulty (still had the smell).
I now have a good working air vent..
No more problems sitting or moving..

The only time I would real want it to work is when I'm flusing the toilet .
Saying that all the ventures will work. Some better than others IF there is a wind or breeze. No wind No breeze. No work. My works well in a breeze but not otherwise. I'm going to try the Little Stanker powered vent and see how it does.

We had the problem when we were moving and the tIolet was flushed OMB the whole motorhome immediately smell. The cyclone vent from camping world works good, but if you are not moving or there is no breeze. They do not work.

Have the cyclone vents and they do work when there is a breeze or moving. However disagree that they do not work parked without a breeze. They still provide an oulet opening equal to the orginial vent cap

Ok so how do they work any better than a standard vent when there is no breeze. It's the same-it vents--- but it will not extract. You have to have a breeze to extract.

We put the "cyclone" on and it was much better... still some smell.... changed the vent caps under the sinks, etc..... much better..... got rid of the maserator and it STOPPED!! Found out the tanks were not draining fast enough to get rid of the sludge in the tanks.. thought the maserator was doing it's job..... changed the waste valves and found both areas at the waste valves were full of sludge..... and smell!!!!!
Took the maserator off and went back to full 3" drain flow.... NO ODOR..... seems like everything helps but the flow was too slow out of the tanks to get all the crud out... now, no odor at all!!!

Aren't the vent cap under the sinks connected to the gray tank?
