I did not buy the package from MS, I bought the Deluo SiRF Star III, with S&T 2006. The Deluo comes with drivers that create a Com port for the USB to use. Once the drivers were installed S&T recognized it instantly.

First thought. When you open S&T then open the GPS pane there is a configure GPS button. When you click on that a window will come up that has the com ports listed, it will also have a Scan button. Click on that, and see if S&T finds the GPS.

Don't know what to recommend after that.

Jim,

I just bought and installed S&T 2006 w/GPS today. I had to use the comfigure GPS button and then the troubleshoot button a couple of time before the GPS would work. Keep working with it and it might start.

I have the 2006 version and had the 2005 before. Always works fine on my Compaq and now my new Gateway. It's a great tool for planning a route and inserting changes, additions, etc. Couldn't live without it for RV'ing or just local driving in So. Calif. 100 times better than Mapquest.

If you are using MS/Windows/XP, it should be just Plug and Play. 98 second edition should also be Plug and Play.
If you are not on XP, open up Control Panel and go to Install Hardware and follow the messages
(START>CONTROL PANEL>INSTALL HARDWRE)
