For those of you who don't know what TDI Products does, they make power cord, water and other reels for both RV and marine applications.
My one and only experience with them is the manual 50 amp shore power cord on our motorhome had a hex head bolt come loose internally which caused the reel itself to scew off at a angle and it wouldn't rewind by the handle. I could rewind it only by grabbing the reel and slowly winding the cord back on.
I called TDI Products to seek a little technical help on how possibly to take the reel out and reinsert the hex head bolt.
Without me asking, the person I talked to on the phone verified the model number reel, then asked for my mailing address and informed me that they would be shipping a whole new reel assembly free of charge, eventhough the current reel is out of its warranty period. WOW
All that I have to do is remove my current one, put it in the box the new one came in and send it back to TDI Products. They even provided for the return shipping.
I just want to say that TDI Products is located in the good ole USA, their products are made by Americans and that they stand by what they make and sell. Very refreshing to deal with this high caliber of customer service.
Thank You TDI Products!

Sounds like a winner to me. Thanks for the info. I get real tired of having to buy crap from the other side of the Pacific.

i have a TDI elec. power reel that i installed in my Pace. They are great people. I also went with their reel, beause they use a airplane brushblock in the reel. Talk about overkill. American made and overbuilt. WOW.

FYI -- they have been sold to Technology Research Corp ( Technology Research Corporation | Electrical Safety Products | Technology Research Corporation). I found this out when our manual cord reel went bad (intermittent contacts on one leg) and called TDI. At the time (abotu 2 weeks ago) I was told that they were moving the inventory to the new company and didn't know if they could get me an exchange/swap, but that I would get a call back.
Still no call back and last week I submitted a tech support request on this via their web-site and have nto received any response yet. Today I have submitted another support request this tiime via their sales contact link.
I guess it is either that they are in the midst of the changeover or dont' have their act together regarding getting back to customers.
I've decided that if I don't hear from them by next week I'll just pull the bad reel and replace it with a detachable power cord as this is the 2nd TDI reel that has failed the same way.

I had my batteries run down as a result of a failed TDI power cord reel...second reel failure since i've owned the rig.
When I contacted them I found out that they sold the product line to TRC. It took a number of contacts to get any information/resolution and finally received a response today.
The "final" resolution from TDI...basically they told me the failures are caused by bad power -- which is not the case -- and that they would do an exchange for $240 but it would only have a 1 year warranty. Given that this is the 2nd failure in less than 6 years I am opting to take a different route.
If anyone wants the whole story and details they are on my blog @ http://rvschooner.com/post/Final-Res...Reel-Saga.aspx

It looks like TDI sold out to a company called Technology Resource Corporation. In a newbie knucklehead moment I ran over my power cord and need a few repair parts. Left messages with TDI but no response so contacted TRC shoreline reels rv division. Was told they do not have parts for the 5036 TDI shoreline reel and explained I needed to purchase a new reel for $600. Boo hoo! I hate to pay that much for stupidity . Would anyone know where to get parts...specifically the two plastic bushings that go on each end of the 12 volt reel motor. Thanks for any input!

For those that have been dissatisfied with TDI products, I would recommend the Glendinning Power Cord Reels and Power Cord Accumulators. All of their products a first class including the customer service.

Take those 2 bushings to a local machine shop or a pump repair shop and have them machine two new ones. You can make them from many different plastics or even out of brass, bronze or oilite. I've made a lot of repairs simply by taking something apart and having a New BETTER part for a heck of a lot less money.

That is good advice thanks. I have had the parts in my truck for two weeks to do just that but haven't made it to the machine shop. Winding that cord up by hand is getting old fast.
Hadn't thought about a pump repair shop or that they do machine work. Thanks again,
Bob
