Recently made the decision to buy an expandable ladder for my 5'er while snowbirding this winter. I decided on the 12 1/2' telesteps and started shopping. I saw that Camping World had the 10 1/2' model in their catalog for $305 (club price) with $22.50 shipping and $24.40 sales tax for a delivered price of $349.90.

I then found the more expensive 12 1/2 ' model for $229 at www.internetfloors.com. Shipping was about $14 and the ladder was delived to my home for about $243 within several days.

I am happy with the quality of the product and I am in no way affiliated with that business.

The telesteps look like a nice product, and you certainly found a bargin by shopping around. Certainly shows it's worth the time searching for the best deals on the net.

In the past, that if Camping World has the item I am looking for,and I can show them a catalog or web page, they will match it or better.

FogNobber,

Now that you have your ladder, what do you think of the construction/strength? Does it seem like it will easily handle more than 225 lbs. The ANSI II rating that the ladder has, is for 225 lbs, but that rating may be conservative. What do you think? Thanks.

I am impressed with the construction of this unit, I haven't put it up all the way as yet but it seems very sturdy and probably capable of more than what it is rated for.

I also have the 12-1/2' TeleSteps ladder. I used to sell them in my construction equipment business but no longer do. It is a good ladder, just that contractor's rarely need the compactness of it and want bigger stuff. I will say that the Camping World price is high. The $269 price range is more appropriate for the taller 12-1/2' ladder as my dealer cost (last year) was around $210.00. It is a really slick design folds up to a very compact size. Also, the 12-1/2' version is better suited for a tall class A motorhome than the 10-1/2' version is. They are strong and well built. They now have a stepladder version of this also which looks really cool for those of use who would rather use a stepladder. It's of similar build quality and, while I haven't seen one in person yet, I think they should be real handy for cleaning windshields of class A rigs and other tasks better handled by stepladders than extension ladders. But, for getting up to the awning or up on the roof the 12-1/2' extension ladder is great.

Ebay has them pretty reasonable. There is also another called XTEND & CLIMB TELESCOPING LADDER.
Claims to have a safer locking system.

I'm about 250+ lbs and mine holds me up fine. It's really handy around the house, too. Fairly light weight and easy to handle. I purchased mine from one of the shopping channels at about the same price as fognobber.

Please make sure your TeleSteps is securely locked before climbing it. Our company had a bunch of them - - until several guys had some major injuries using them. Supposedly they have improved the locking system, but we do not use them any longer.

I find the folding step ladder carried by Camping World to be fantastic. I have the 6' version. Very sturdy and folds up to 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" by 6' long. Somewhere around $100. Please note - - that is 3-1/2 INCHES.

Update to these posts...I recently purchased the Telesteps 12'ladder from E-bay...was just under $150 plus $25 shipping. I am impressed with its strength and versatility. I weigh about 193 and it is sturdy even fully extended.
